Debutant Myanmar impressed in the first day of the Penang Pesta International Tournament

The new edition of the Penang Trade Fair International Tournament or shortly known as Penang Pesta started with its first competition day in Malaysia. Malaysia’s Mohamad Azuwan Bin Mohamed Nor began his campaign well but Myanmar, the debutant country of the Penang Pesta Tournament impressed with two strong victories.
The competition period of the Penang Trade Fair International Tournament is between December 27 and 31 and the event is recognized for men’s elite and men’s youth boxers. Fourteen contests were held in the first competition day of the Penang Trade Fair International Tournament in Malaysia.
Boxers who were born in 2000 or in 2001 are eligible to attend in the youth part of the Penang Trade Fair International Tournament and the younger age group will be in action on the second competition day in Malaysia.
The following weight classes are scheduled in the men’s youth part of the Penang Pesta Tournament: 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg and 75kg. The men’s elite boxers are attending in the event in nine different weight classes: 49kg, 52kg, 56kg, 60kg, 64kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg and 91kg.
In the first bout of the whole Penang Pesta Tournament Malaysia’s Mohamad Shahrazi Bin Sepri defeated Muhamad Safiuddin Bin Mohammed Ali at the men’s elite light flyweight (49kg). In the same category Muhammad Alimran Bin Ibrahim of Melaka was impressed against Perak’s Mohamed Nuraziri Bin Mohamed Rodzi.
Malaysia’s national team member at the flyweight (52kg) Mohamad Azuwan Bin Mohamed Nor was too strong for his teammate Mohamad Nor Syahrie Bin Samion in his debuting contest. Former Youth Olympian 25-year-old Mohamed Hanurdeen Bin Hamid of Singapore used up his experiences to eliminate Myanmar’s Zaw Myint Moe in their hectic bout at the flyweight (52kg).
Malaysia’s Jamie Wong Lee Onn won a few competitions in the recent two years and his strong performance paid off against Muhammad Amar Qawiy Bin Ibrahim in the first round of the elite bantamweight (56kg). In the same division Myanmar’s Pyae Sone stopped his Malaysian opponent Mohamed Amirul Naim Bin Zamri in Penang.
Myanmar is attending in the Penang Pesta International Tournament at the very first time in the history of the competition and their newly crowned National Champion Myo Kyaw Thu started strongly against a local boxer Muhammad Jeferi Bin Mohamed Yusof. The young welterweight (69kg) boxer dominated all of the rounds against his Malaysian opponent and advanced to the next round in Penang.
