Chinzorig Baatarsukh defeated Asian Games winner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar in the top final of the Mongolian National Boxing Championships

The Mongolian National Boxing Championships finished in their capital city in Ulaanbaatar which was a selection competition for the 2019 international events. Rio 2016 Olympian Chinzorig Baatarsukh won the key contest of the National Championships where he was slightly better than Jakarta 2018 Asian Games winner Erdenebat Tsendbaatar.
Thirteen champions were crowned in the Mongolian National Boxing Championships after the seventh competition day of the event. The women boxers could fight in five weight classes in the Mongolian National Boxing Championships: flyweight (51kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), welterweight (69kg) and middleweight (75kg). The men boxers attended in the event in the new eight weight categories as follows: 52kg, 57kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg and +91kg.
Altogether a total of 168 athletes including 50 women and 118 men boxers attended in the Mongolian National Boxing Championships in Ulaanbaatar. The first gold medal of the national event was achieved by AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg who defeated 19-year-old Enkhjargal Munguntsetseg in the final of the flyweight (51kg) while favourite Jargalan Ochirbat achieved only bronze.
The women’s featherweight (57kg) was won by former ASBC Asian Women’s Champion Bolortuul Tumurkhuyag who defeated her main rivals as teenager Erdenedalai Michidmaa and Nergui Oyun-Erdene as well. AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Namuun Monkhor was in different level than her rivals and dominated the women’s lightweight (60kg) in Ulaanbaatar.
Erdenetuya Enkhbaatar attended in the New Delhi 2018 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and she was able to turn back her welterweight (69kg) final against another national team member boxer Shinetsetseg Uranbileg. The fifth gold medal in the women’s part of the Mongolian National Championships was earned by Munkhbat Myagmarjargal who won a bout also in the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in New Delhi.
Mongolia’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Gan-Erdene Gankhuyag moved up to the flyweight (52kg) but surprisingly he lost his first bout in the preliminary stage therefore the final success was taken by Ganselem Ariunbold who defeated Enkhmandakh Kharkhuu. Another top Mongolian hope Rio 2016 Olympian Enkh-Amar Kharkhuu dominated all of his fights at the new 57kg weight class.
Erdenebat Tsendbaatar won the gold medal at the lightweight (60kg) in the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and his top teammate Rio 2016 Olympian Chinzorig Baatarsukh achieved silver in the Indonesian capital this August. The two Mongolian stars are now attending at the 63kg weight class and met in the final of the National Championships. Their world class bout was impressed the crowd which was won by 27-year-old Chinzorig Baatarsukh.
Mongolia’s London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist and AIBA World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Uranchimeg Munkh-Erdene moved up to the welterweight (69kg) but the 36-year-old was not able to win the title following his young opponent Bayarkhuu Ganbaatar was slightly better in the final.
Davaanyam Davaasuren has been attending in the international competitions since 2012 and his performance was enough to beat his rivals at the middleweight (75kg). Narmandakh Shinebayar is also an experienced boxer who returned to the world of boxing at the light heavyweight (81kg) and won his next national title.
Chuluuntumur Tumurkhuyag and Khishigbaatar Mandakhbayar attended high number of international events but the heavyweight (91kg) was won by another veteran athlete Sandagsuren Erdenebayar who defeated young Beknur Khali in the final. Tolek Yerbolat attended already in the 2012 AIBA Asian Olympic Qualification Event therefore his strong experiences paid off the in the final of the super heavyweight (+91kg).
