Chinese Taipei’s Pan Hung Ming delivered the main sensation of the Yekaterinburg 2019 World Boxing Championships on Day5

The fifth day of competition was held at the AIBA World Boxing Championships for the men’s elite in Yekaterinburg, Russia where boxers at the welterweight (69kg) fought for the last 32. Six of the Asians won their contests among them including China’s Maimaitituersun Qiong and Thailand’s Wuttichai Masuk but the main sensation was delivered by Chinese Taipei’s Pan Hung Ming.
The Asian teams prepared strongly to the Yekaterinburg 2019 World Boxing Championships in the recent months after the Bangkok ASBC Asian Boxing Championships and our continent has got several medal and title favourites in Russia. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, India, China, Thailand, Philippines, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Jordan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan and many other teams from our continent have got world class boxers.
Altogether 107 Asian elite male boxers are attending in the event from 21 nations: Afghanistan, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Philippines, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei and Uzbekistan.
China’s two-time Olympian Maimaitituersun Qiong is a veteran boxer in his homeland who returned to the national team one and half year ago. The Chinese Boxing Federation hired a top coach Mr. Aleksandr Lebziak who prepared the team well to this AIBA World Boxing Championships. The Chinese boxer was patient against Egypt’s Mohamed Hikal and waiting for the best attacking angles in the first round. The Xinjiang-based boxer controlled all of the rounds with his speed and eliminated his African rival winning the bout unanimously.
Chinese Taipei’s Pan Hung Ming impressed in a previous Russian event at the FISU University World Boxing Championships in Elista one year ago and the welterweight (69kg) boxer has done another sensation on Day5. The 22-year-old promising boxer was slightly better than Ukraine’s National Champion Mger Oganisian who is a strong puncher and has got more than 200 contests during his career. In spite of the previous chances Pan managed to win their difficult bout causing a big sensation on Day5.
India impressed in the first round of the preliminary stages of the AIBA World Boxing Championships with perfect record. Their debutant Duryodhan Singh Negi is already 33 but he developed strongly in the recent two years and head coach Mr. Santiago Nieva selected him to attend in Yekaterinburg. The Indian boxer moved ahead bravely from the first seconds and his strength was enough to beat Armenia’s Koryun Astoyan.
South Korea’s Incheon 2014 Asian Games silver medallist Lim Hyun Chul impressed in the preparation events this year. The South Korean boxer caught Qatar’s Rio 2016 Olympian Thulasi Tharumalingam several times with big punches and eliminated his rival. Kyrgyzstan’s Abdurakhman Abdurakhmanov is only 22 but he has already plenty of international experiences with medals from various international tournaments therefore his success over Serbia’s Milan Vrankovic was not a surprise.
Thailand’s Incheon 2014 Asian Games winner and ASBC Asian Champion Wuttichai Masuk also opened his campaign in Yekaterinburg. Masuk moved up to the welterweight (69kg) a few months ago and met with Belarus’ Yauheni Dauhaliavets first. Masuk started the bout better but he did not deliver his best in the first and second rounds. The Thai star played with his Belarusian opponent in the third round which was his best and joined to the last 32 eliminating his European rival.
