Chinese Taipei’s Pan Hung Min eliminated a top French rival in the FISU University World Boxing Championships

The FISU University World Boxing Championships saw 21 quarter-final contests in Elista which city is located in the Southern part of the Russian Federation. Five Asian boxers won their contests on Day3 and they are all guaranteed medallists but the best win was delivered by Chinese Taipei’s Pan Hung Min.
Following the last Chiang Mai edition which was held in Thailand the current host is the Russian Federation. Altogether 17 women and 93 men boxers are attending in the FISU University World Boxing Championships where 13 winners will be crowned in Elista which is the capital city of the Republic of Kalmykia.
Kyrgyzstan’s Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu prepared to take part in the boxing tournament of the Asian Games but after the decision of their head coach he was replaced by Argen Kadyrbek Uulu in Jakarta. The 22-year-old Kyrgyz lightweight (60kg) boxer was motivated in the quarter-finals against Ireland’s Terry McEntee as he was planning to show his top skills. Seyitbek Uulu moved forward, used an aggressive style and following his confident performance he is now guaranteed medallist in Elista.
Kazakhstan’s Yerzhan Ordabayev was member of their youth national team in 2012 and following that he quickly won their National Elite Championships. The currently 24-year-old Kazakh lightweight (60kg) boxer had to face for the guaranteed medal with France’s Elias Friha who was a competitive rival for Ordabayev. The Kazakh hope has done great finish in the final round and eliminated his French opponent in Elista.
Kazakhstan’s Bekbolat Kuramyssov claimed silver medal in the last edition of the FISU University World Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai at the welterweight (69kg) and he is aiming for a title in Elista. The Kazakh boxer attended in the World Series Boxing as well and controlled his fight against Belarus’ Aliaksei Dziarnou which means Kuramyssov remained his gold medal chances alive.
Chinese Taipei’s AIBA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Qualification Event quarter-finalist Pan Hung Min also had to miss the boxing tournament of the Asian Games as Kyrgyzstan’s Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu but he arrived also to Elista in top form. Pan, who moved up to the welterweight (69kg) this year, proved his footwork is world class and defeated France’s young National Champion Milan Prat in the quarter-finals.
Tajikistan’s Shabbos Negmatulloev claimed bronze medal in the 2013 AIBA Junior World Boxing Championships and silver in the 2014 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships. He advanced to the quarter-finals in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships therefore he is a favourite in Elista. The 21-year-old Tajik light heavyweight (81kg) eliminated Lithuania’s Paulius Zujevas on Day2 and dominated his next fight against Chinese Taipei’s He Shao Hui in the quarter-finals.
