Cambodia conducts historic 1-star R&J course led by experienced official Mr. John Waith

Aimed at developing national referees and judges, the Cambodian Boxing Federation (CBF) held its first-ever 1-star IBA Referee & Judge Course spearheaded by seasoned international technical official Mr. John Waith of Wales in Phnom Penh.

Mr. John Waith, who was the R&J Evaluator in the ASBC Asian Elite Championships 2022 in Amman, Jordan, worked as the lead instructor for the 17 participants of the course.

Attendees who passed the final examinations following the theoretical and practical sessions became 1-star IBA R&J.

The Secretary General of the Cambodian Boxing Federation, Mr. Sophoan Buy is one of the ASBC Board of Directors and the engine of the local development.

ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira of Thailand supported the first course in Cambodia and congratulated their management to move to the next step in boxing. The ASBC President developed boxing in the Asian continent since he has been elected in March 2022 and new projects will be coming soon throughout the continent.

The Cambodian boxers competed at the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Amman last month and their talents were near to get medals in Jordan.

Cambodia recently organized its National Games which served as a selection for international competitions next year, including the Southeast Asian Games that will be hosted by the country for the first time.

The Cambodian national boxers competed in the Galym Zharylgapov Memorial Tournament in Kazakhstan as part of their preparations for the SEA Games.
