Baratakhunov, Duyshonaliyev and Abidzhanov are Kyrgyzstan’s favourites in the CIS Games
Kyrgyzstan will send five strong pugilists to the Commonwealth of Independent States Games which will take place in Azerbaijan in a few days.
Eight cities will host the CIS Games in Azerbaijan and boxing will feature at the Yevlakh Olympic Center from September 29 until October 5.
Kyrgyzstan earned several titles in the recent ASBC Asian Boxing Championships among the schoolboys, junior, youth and U22 age groups and their squad at the CIS Junior Games will contain also favourites.
The 15-year-old Erbol Baratakhunov started boxing before his age of 10 and he joined the junior age group this January. The Schoolboys National Champion competed at the ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships one year ago and he achieved a silver medal in their Junior National Championships.
Alikhan Ergeshov competed at the featherweight (57kg) in the Belt & Road Boxing Festival in Urumqi, China, which was a great international experience for the 15-year-old boxer, and a debut in this level of boxing.
Khudayberdi Abidzhanov is a light flyweight (48kg) talent from the historic city of Osh and the 16-year-old boxer is the current Junior National Champion in Kyrgyzstan. He claimed also a gold medal in the 2024 edition of the Nationals and he has the experience to beat top opponents in Azerbaijan.
Kutman Duyshonaliyev also lives and trains in the city of Osh and he claimed a bronze medal at the annual Kyrgyz Junior National Championships. The light welterweight (63kg) boxer has four years of experience from the competitions and he is among the medal hopefuls in the upcoming CIS Games.
Dzhalal-Abad region’s Mukhammadali Kanybekov is also 16-year-old talent who started the year at the light flyweight (48kg) but he is growing and put up muscles with extra weights.
