Bangladesh selected two female and three male boxers to the Bhutan International Invitational Tournament

Bangladesh selected two female and three experienced male boxers Bhutan International Invitational Tournament & Joint Training Camp which will be held in their capital city in Thimphu on April 8-13.

The Bhutan Boxing Federation will be arranged a joint training camp before the competition from April 8 to strengthen their ties with the region’s best boxing nations.

The four nations friendly event will be competing in the event in Thimphu from April 11 where eight female and six male weight categories have been added to the official program.

Thimphu is Bhutan’s most important city, occupies in a beautiful valley and it is known for its monasteries, government palace and Buddhist sites.

The 2-star Mr. Mohamed Shafiul Azam Masud, Mr. Golam Rabbani and one of the most experienced former national boxer, the Commonwealth Games competitor Mr. Mohamed Abdul Rahim are their coaches in Bhutan.

Two of their former national boxers, Mr. Mohammed Khairul Islam and Mr. Mohammed Shahid Alam are the Referees & Judges in the Bhutan International Invitational Tournament.

Bangladesh arranged its first national female competitions around ten years ago and since then their boxers competed in the Women’s World Boxing Championships and ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships as well. Their Jannatul Ferdous (48kg) and Kayema Khatun (50kg) will be their women boxers in the joint training camp and in the competition.

Mohammed Utshob Ahmed, a professional boxer, competed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai, will represent Team Bangladesh at the bantamweight (54kg).

Their top lightweight (60kg) boxer, the 33-year-old Mohammed Salim Hussain was quarter-finalist at the recent Asian Games and he returned to the elite national team in time to join this fantastic camp and competition.

Bangladesh’s third male boxer in the national team in Bhutan is Mohammed Hossan Ali at the light welterweight (63.5kg). The 29-year-old boxer competed at the 2022 edition of the Commonwealth Games and he is also an experienced pugilist in the team.
