Askertayev and Mereke earned gold medals at the Satybayev Youth Tournament

The Satybayev Youth Tournament took place in the city of Kokshetau, Kazakhstan where Madiyar Askertayev and Ali Mereke won the best finals.
The city of Kokshetau is located in the Lake Kopa in Northern Kazakhstan and it is the capital of the Akmola region.
Kazakhstan’s next international event saw 96 youth talents in Kokshetau where the boxers who were born in 2008 and in 2009 were eligible to participate in the strong Satybayev Youth Tournament.
Mangystau region’s Yerassyl Yaumetdin eliminated Tajikistan’s promising Murod Imatshoyev in the semi-finals of the flyweight and he continued his winning path against Nurlan Sisenbayev of Aktau region.
The 16-year-old Madiyar Askertayev lives and trains in the city of Kokshetau and he won all of his four contests one home soil in the front of his relatives. Askertayev had a very tough final bout against Bekarys Adilbay but he managed to win the contest by split decision.
Pavlodar region has strong boxers in all age groups and their youth talent, Zhanarbek Khuanyshuly impressed in Kokshetau winning all of his lightweight (60kg) contests including the final against his compatriot Sayat Karatayev.
Tajikistan’s Sorbon Nuralizoda won his quarter-final by a knockout and he marched to the finals of the competition. His final opponent, Ali Mereke won several preparation tournaments and he used a smart strategy to beat Nuralizoda, a strong Tajik talent.
Kostanay region’s Kirill Pokorskiy was not the favourite for the title at the middleweight (75kg) but he exceeded the expectations for the title against Kokshetau’s Arnur Aron and celebrated his victory after the last gong.
Kostanay region’s next boxer in the final was Igor Voleychuk who eliminated Nurassyl Aitekeyev in the semi-finals of the light heavyweight (80kg) and Shyngyskhan Nurlanov was also not able to stop him for the title.
Following Ramazan Assylkhan’s dominance, Uzbekistan’s lone gold medal in the event was achieved by Abdullokh Kodirov. The young Uzbek knocked out Aleksandr Danilov in the first round of their heavyweight final while Shuchinsk’s Madiyar Bozymbayev won the super heavyweight in Kokshetau.
