Tajikistan’s Shabbos Negmatulloev proved top performance in the Asian University Boxing Championships

The first edition of the Asian University Boxing Championships was held in the capital city of Tajikistan in Dushanbe where 13 champions have been crowned. Dushanbe never hosted such a big boxing event in the past and the home crowd enjoyed the huge competition where Tajikistan claimed six gold medals.
Nearly 100 boxers competed in the first edition of the Asian University Boxing Championships in the Tajik capital city in the thirteen Olympic weight classes. Thailand’s lone gold medal in the competition was delivered by AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Chuthamat Raksat who defeated Tajikistan’s national team member Svetlana Veglina at the Women’s Flyweight class (51 kg).
London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medallist Mavzuna Chorieva was the host nation’s best woman hope who did not give any chance to her rivals and triumphed over Mongolia’s Nergui Oyun-Erdene in the gold medal bout. Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships bronze medallist Shoira Zulkaynarova stopped Afghanistan’s Leila Sekandari in the first round in the final of the Women’s Middleweight class (75 kg).
Kyrgyzstan’s two-time National Champion Rakhmankul Avatov is trying to regain his place in their top team and his gold medal is on the best way to be done it. The 21-year-old Light Flyweight class (49 kg) boxer won Kyrgyzstan’s lone gold in Dushanbe where he defeated Tajikistan’s two top athletes in the category, Murodjon Rasulov and Shukhrat Sabzaliyev.
Kazakhstan’s Anvar Muzaparov moved up to the Flyweight class (52 kg) in the recent years and proved he is a strong boxer. The 24-year-old athlete eliminated Japan’s Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympian Subaru Murata in the semi-final and controlled his final against Tajikistan’s Fayzmamad Malakhbekov in the gold medal contest.
Tajikistan’s 19-year-old Bakhodur Usmonov reached great results in the year of 2013 when he competed in the junior age group and achieved his best elite results with hi silver at the Bantamweight class (56 kg) in Dushanbe where only Kazakhstan’s Yertugan Zeinuldinov was able to defeat him. Kazakhstan’s Liventsev Memorial Tournament winner Didar Utelbayev is one of the most developed Asian Lightweight class (60 kg) boxer who did not give any chance to his opponents including Kyrgyzstan’s Temirlan Osmanov in Dushanbe.
Japan’s lone gold medal was achieved by their newly crowned National Elite Champion Hikaru Okishima at the Light Welterweight class (64 kg) where he defeated Tajikistan’s Shokhrukh Oganazarov. Tajikistan’s 24-year-old Mirzomukhammad Bakhtiyar competed at the 2010 ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and since then he claimed national titles among the elite boxers. The Tajik boxer stopped Kyrgyzstan’s Adilet Batyraliev in the semi-finals and defeated his teammate Dzhamshed Burkhonov in the gold medal bout of the Welterweight class (69 kg).
Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships silver medallist Shabbos Negmatulloev will be turning to 19 only later this year but he won several international events in Kazakhstan in the recent months. The talented hope was too strong for Japan’s Ren Umemura and Tajikistan’s Doryush Azizzoda in the Middleweight class (75 kg).
Kazakhstan’s Ali Akhmedov had to meet in the final with Tajikistan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships silver medallist Navruz Jafoev but he shocked his rival as the referee confirmed his TKO triumph in the second round. The Heavyweight class (91 kg) gold medal was achieved by Tajikistan’s Shakhrom Afsakhov who is a newcomer in the international level.
Dilovarsho Abdurakhmanov is member of the national team of Tajikistan since 2009 who competed in the 2012 AIBA Asian Olympic Qualification Event as well but in the recent years he could not show his real skills in the international level. The veteran boxer had to meet with his teammate Tajikistan’s 19-year-old Daler Suleymanov in the final and after his great last round he was crowned in Dushanbe.
