Asian Games – Hero of Day1 – Turkmenistan’s Hursand Imankuliyev
The Asian Boxing Confederation’s project the Hero of the Day will be published after each competition day during the boxing tournament of the Asian Games. The first winner is Turkmenistan’s 21-year-old Hursand Imankuliyev who amazed all judges, the officials and the Indonesian crowd in Jakarta on Day1. Turkmenistan’s lightweight (60kg) boxer dominated all of the rounds against Japan’s Rio 2016 Olympian Arashi Morisaka in the opening day.
Hursand Imankuliyev was born in the city of Dashoguz on May 24 in 1996 and his first superb result was a silver medal in the Children of Asia Games in 2012. Imankuliyev was excellent also in the Sofia 2014 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships but his career highlights have come in the recent one and half year.
Following his bronze medal in the Islamic Solidarity Games and silver in the Liventsev Memorial Tournament Imankuliyev won the prestigious Feliks Stamm Memorial Tournament in Poland five months ago where he defeated tough Mongolian, Filipino and Russian boxers claiming the gold in Warsaw.
