Asian Champions and Junior World Champions impressed at the Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Youth Tournament

The Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Youth Tournament was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan where several of the Asian Champions and Junior World Champions won their weight classes.

The women’s youth boxers amazed with their level and the competition was a world-class tournament in the former capital city of Kazakhstan.

Altogether 113 youth female boxers competed in the event and among them 12 girls celebrated gold medals from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg).

Uzbekistan claimed three gold, six silver and eight bronze medals and won the medal standings ahead of the local Kazakh regional teams.

The 2006 and 2007 born girls competed in the event in Almaty which was a preparation for the upcoming ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships.

Uzbekistan’s Asian Junior Champion Jasmin Tokhirova stopped three opponents during her road to the finals and she was too smart for Tomiris Baktubayeva of Astana in the opening title bout. Her teammate in the Uzbek youth national team, Khilolakhon Mashrabova defeated Mongolia’s Nomundar Enkh-Amgalan and Kazakhstan’s Aibegim Kazhymukhan in her key contests.

Turkestan region’s Bagzhan Otynbay won the first title for the host country, she was able to beat Uzbekistan’s Muslima Turganova at the flyweight (52kg). Liya Abdullayeva trains in the Turkestan region as Otynbay and she shined in the competition well enough to beat Uzbekistan’s Asian Junior Champion Uzukjamol Yunusova which was a surprise success for her in Almaty.

The featherweight (57kg) was the busiest category in the Ibraimov Prizes Women’s Youth Tournament and won by a rising star from Kazakhstan. Ayazhan Sydyk, the Junior World Champion, moved up one category and she proved her best against experienced rivals as Kyrgyzstan’s Medina Abyldayeva, Kazakhstan’s Mubarak Rakhymzhan and Uzbekistan’s Feruza Sharipova. Following Rakhima Bekniyazova’s success at the lightweight (60kg), Tolganay Kassymkhan, another Junior World Champion from Kazakhstan, amazed at the light welterweight (63kg). Aruzhan Zeinullayeva and Panar Seitkhankyzy both joined the youth age group this January and the Kazakh duo won the heaviest weight categories in Almaty.
