Mr. Yousuf Ali Al-Kazim is not only the President of the Qatar Boxing Federation but he is the Vice-President of the Asian Boxing Confederation who has been working actively in the international boxing events. Qatar Boxing Federation hosted the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Doha in October 2015 and following that two of their boxers qualified for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games which showed their strong development.
Mr. Yousuf Ali Al-Kazim presented medals also in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships two months ago. Mr. Al-Kazim arrived to Ho Chi Minh City before the first competition day to the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships to watch all contests and the performance of our continent’s female boxers.
“The ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships has got wonderful level in Ho Chi Minh City and personally I think this is a great development for Vietnam’s boxing and their National Federation.
Vietnam Boxing Federation is planning to host new events in the upcoming years and we are very welcome all countries in our continent which are planning to host big competitions to develop the sport in Asia.
Women boxing turned into a new level in Asia, and I believe we will have more training possibilities and competitions for our ladies in the upcoming years to reach our goal, mainly in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. I saw the development of DPR Korea, India, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Philippines and Uzbekistan here in Ho Chi Minh City.
Vietnam’s 69kg boxer Tran Thi Linh is world class, she has got the power, physical skills and the right technique to be a star in the future. In my opinion she could be medallist also in an upcoming AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.
ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev supported Cambodia and DPR Korea to participate here in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City and our ASBC & Wesing grant program is also running in this event as well.
Our Asian future hopes, the next generation in female boxing will be taking part at the AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Guwahati, India after this event where they will be meeting with the strong European talents but I am expecting also good results from our 17 and 18 years old athletes.
The AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships will be held in New Delhi, India in one year when we would be able to check where we are in the middle of the Olympic era. There will be more women weight classes in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and our chances are excellent to win more medals. I visited all of the ASBC events this year and I saw several new talents in our continent,”
said ASBC Vice-President Mr. Yousuf Ali Ali-Kazim in Ho Chi Minh City.
