ASBC to hold 2 more major competitions this year

After the successful staging of Under-22 and youth & junior tournaments, the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) is set to hold the Asian Elite Men’s & Women’s Boxing Championships and the Asian Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships later this year.

The ASBC Elite tilt was rescheduled for October 21 to November 2 in a venue that will be decided in the upcoming days.

On the other hand, the ASBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls tourney is slated to be held from November 27 to December 4 in a yet to be determined venue.

It will be the second edition for the boys division following the inaugural hosting in Kuwait back in 2019 while the girls competition will take place for the first time.

Last January, the ASBC organized the first-ever Asian U22 Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where 11 other countries were able to attend despite heightened restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships in Amman, Jordan followed suit last March, with more flexible health measures allowing a total of 355 young boxers from 21 nations to participate in the event.

Uzbekistan came out on top of the medal standings in both tournaments.
