ASBC R&J Meeting was held in Tashkent for the further developments
The Asian Boxing Confederation Boxing hold its ASBC Refereeing & Judging Meeting in the International Hotel in Tashkent, Uzbekistan today during the rest day of the ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. The members discussed about the development of the Asian R&Js, where we are currently and how to act to reach the main objectives in the future.
President of the Asian Boxing Confederation (ASBC) and Vice-President of the International Boxing Association (AIBA) Mr. Serik Konakbayev hold his opening speech in the first minutes of the ASBC Refereeing & Judging Meeting.
The former Chairman of the ASBC R&J Commission was Mr. Sukku Kang of South Korea who passed away unexpectedly this February at the age of 65 therefore the Commission members remembered for him with a short standing silence.
ASBC President Mr. Serik Konakbayev selected Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib as the Acting Chairman of the ASBC R&J Commission to the ASBC Refereeing & Judging Meeting. Mr. Serik Konakbayev introduced the new members of the ASBC R&J Commission: Mr. Chen Jin-Ming of Chinese Taipei and Mr. Paiboon Srichaisawat of Thailand.
The main objectives of the Meeting were the followings:
– Improvement of education system
– Improvement of examination system,
– Improvement of evaluation system
– Referee & Judge Ranking System
– New rules review
– Strengthen and educate R&Js in all of the five Asian zones
– Increase the number of Asian R&J instructors
– Creating website to e-education for the Asian R&Js
Refresher courses for Referees & Judges must be held during the National Championships in English, Arabic, Russian and Chinese languages it depends on the region. The Supervisor of the competitions should monitor the judges scores and the performance of the R&Js during the competitions day by day.
If any serious wrong decision have been done in the main competitions, it should be punished and the Referee & Judge must sent home immediately. Creation of special rankings system to motivate R&Js to work more fairly which must be updated right after each continental championships and international tournaments which would be able to divide the educated R&Js from less educated.
Nine Asian R&J worked in the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and eight both in the London 2012 Olympic Games and Rio 2016 Olympic Games. One of the main objective of the ASBC Refereeing & Judging Meeting is to raise the number of the Asian R&Js in an Olympic Games especially in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which will be held in Asia.
The members of the ASBC Refereeing & Judging Meeting discussed the new AIBA rules which were set up after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. The new decisions of the bouts are RSC, RSCI and ABD and all five judges are using in the AOB competitions to decide the bouts while the judges’ positions are also changed into all four sides in the ring.
Scores of the bouts are not available in the internet and for the media according to the new rules while R&J Appointment is based on automated draw by Swiss Timing. Women’s Elite & Youth boxers can fight 3×3 minutes in all 2017 competitions to standardize the system to the men competitions.
Five levels of R&Js are existing according to the new AIBA rules:
– 1-Star R&Js
– 2-Star R&Js
– 3-Star R&Js
– WSB Certification
– APB/WSB Certification
