ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira congratulates to the new President of the Iranian Boxing Federation Mr. Rohollah Hosseini

ASBC President Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira of Thailand and the whole management of the Asian Boxing Confederation congratulate to the newly elected President of the Iranian Boxing Federation, Mr. Rohollah Hosseini.

The Presidential election of the Iranian Boxing Federation was held in building of the Iranian National Olympic Committee in Tehran today. Mr. Rohollah Hosseini received all of the 42 votes during the election and will serve the Iranian Boxing Federation as President in the upcoming four years.

Iran’s legendary former boxer, the Olympian Mr. Rohollah Hosseini was Mr. Hossein Souri’s opponent in the 2022 elections one and half year ago. Mr. Souri won that close election on January 2022 but after he left the country, Mr. Hosseini was named as Interim President of the Iranian Boxing Federation a few months ago. Following the new election, Mr. Hosseini is now the official President of the Iranian Boxing Federation.  

Mr. Hosseini was member of the Iranian national boxing team between 1998 and 2010 and achieved gold at the 2005 Asian Boxing Championships, bronze at the Asian Games twice. He claimed a silver at the 2002 Asian Boxing Championships in Seremban, and he qualified for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games as well.

Iran hosted several national events from the schoolboy age group up to the youth boxers this year to strengthen their grassroots. The Iranians are planning to participate in all of the upcoming ASBC Asian Boxing Championships this year and their elite team keeps the focus on the first Olympic Qualifier, the Asian Games.
