Kuwait became an independent country in June 1961 with the end of the British Protectorate and governance. Following that official declaration, the Sheikh Mr. Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became an Emir of Kuwait. Kuwait was the first Arab state of the region which established a constitution and a parliament. Kuwait became the most developed country of its region in the 1970s and 1980s.

The Kuwait National Day is February 25 while the Kuwait Liberation Day celebrated one day after in the country which has the population of 4.4 million. This holiday marks the day when Sheikh Mr. Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah ascended to the throne. The Al-Sabah family became the ruler of Kuwait in 1756 and the dynasty survived many serious periods until our present day.

The National Day would be on June 19th marking the date of the independence in 1961 but it moved to February 25 in 1963 due the extreme heat in June. The nationwide festive celebrations include a fabulous fireworks display in Kuwait City with many other impressive entertainments. The whole country is decorated with national flags, symbols and lights to strengthen the patriotic feelings.

Kuwait Boxing Federation hosted the first historical ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships in August 2019 and following that the country welcomed the participants of the Arab Junior Boxing Championships in January 2020. The country returned to the boxing events a few months ago and planning to host further tournaments in the upcoming years.
