ASBC President Mr. Anas Alotaiba and the whole ASBC management wish Happy Thai New Year to our Boxing Family

The President of the Asian Boxing Confederation Mr. Anas Alotaiba, furthermore the whole ASBC management wish Happy Thai New Year for the Southeast Asian boxing family which may bring prosperity, health and happiness to all stakeholders.

Songkran is the Thai New Year’s national holiday which is on April 13 every year but the celebrations continues until April 15. The Thai government extended the festival nationwide to five days to enable people to travel home for holiday.

The word of “Songkran” comes from the Sanskrit language and it means movement, transformation and an astrological passage. The Songkran festival celebrates not only in Thailand, but in Laos, in Cambodia, in Myanmar, in Sri Lanka, and some parts of Vietnam, in India and also in China.

The Sri Lankans can return to the celebrations after two years of break following the attack and the Covid-19 pandemic. The President of the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka Mr. Dian Gomes is ASBC and AIBA EC member who works hard for the development of boxing. The Secretary General of the Thailand Boxing Association Mr. Chaiwat Chotima is one of the Vice-Presidents of the Asian Boxing Confederation who is one of the key persons of their developments including the President of TBA Mr. Pichai Chunhavajira.
