ASBC Heroes – China’s ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Champion Liu Yuhang

China’s Liu Yuhang was gold medallist at the welterweight (66kg) in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Boxing Championships. The Chinese talent was favourite in the historical first edition in Fujairah and accomplished her goal with the gold medal becoming one of the ASBC Heroes in 2019.

Liu Yuhang was born in the Shandong Province on October 7 in 2003 and began boxing age the age of 12 in 2015. She trains in the Zibo Sports School with coach Wang Yankai since the beginning of her boxing career and trains around 24 hours every week. Liu Yuhang’s nickname is Hang and likes singing and all kind of sweets. Her boxing idol is a top Chinese female boxer, Yin Junhua who claimed silver medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Liu Yuhang attended in the Chinese Junior National Games in 2019 following her regional and provincial successes. Liu went to the competition with great expectations and she realized her gold medal expectations in the Junior National Games. Her triumph at the Junior National Games guaranteed her participation at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Boxing Championships.

Liu Yuhang began her campaign amazingly in Fujairah, she knocked out Uzbekistan’s Anorakhon Melieva in the quarter-finals on Day5 of the event. The 16-year-old Chinese talent delivered the first classic KO success in the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Women’s Junior Boxing Championships. The Chinese welterweight (66kg) boxer had a stronger opponent in the day of the semi-finals but she defeated Kazakhstan’s Zhibek Zharaskyzy who had international experienced prior the Fujairah event. Liu, who started boxing four years ago, the southpaw hope, impressed in her third bout against Chinese Taipei’s Chang Chia Hsun which was the final of the event. The 16-year-old Chinese boxer was patient in their final and waited for the best attacking angles to score her quick punches. Liu Yuhang worked well through all of the three rounds and deserved to win the title of the welterweight (66kg).
