Kazakhstan’s first ever four-times Asian Champion in the junior and youth age groups is Torekhan Sabyrkhan who defended his welterweight (67kg) title at the recent ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Astana a few days ago and he was named as the Best Youth Male Boxer.

Torekhan Sabyrkhan achieved his first Asian title in the 2021 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships in Dubai, UAE nearly three years ago. Uzbekistan’s Abdullokh Madaminov was his final opponent at the junior light bantamweight (52kg) in 2021. The Uzbek southpaw moved ahead in the first minute but he stepped into Sabyrkhan’s best fighting distance and received counter-shots from his technician neighbouring opponent and the younger Kazakh won their final bout.
He returned to the ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships on March 2022 which event took place in Amman, Jordan. Sabyrkhan moved up to the featherweight (57kg) and he eliminated Tajikistan’s junior No.1, Ruslan Gafurov and defeated also Uzbekistan’s ASBC Asian Schoolboys Champion and the winner of the Commonwealth of Independent States Junior Games Farrukh Tulaganov. Their bout was the most anticipated contests of the final session and the outstanding Sabyrkhan won the amazing final by an unexpected RSC.
He joined the youth age group in 2023 and he faced with another ASBC Asian Champion boxer, Yashwardhan Singh for the title of the light welterweight (63.5kg) in the annual Asian Youth Boxing Championships. The Indian looked stronger but the younger 17-year-old Kazakh replied from his safest distance and his outstanding technical skills guaranteed his third Asian title in Astana on November 2023.
Torekhan Sabyrkhan was the top star of their youth national team this year and he had only one mission in the new edition of the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in the previous two weeks, just to win his next gold medal. The welterweight (67kg) boxer had a very difficult final against Uzbekistan’s Mukhammadazizbek Ismoilov who had good shots in the first round to take a tight lead. Sabyrkhan turned up the heat in the beginning of the second round and his brilliant last round made it clear, he is the first ever four-times Asian Champion among the junior and youth boxers.
