ASBC Asian Junior Champion Nusratbek Tokhirov wins in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships

Eleven champions have been crowned in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships after the finals in Khorezm. Lazizbek Fattoyev and Sardor Rakhmonberdiyev won the bouts of the finals against strong opponents. Gofurjon Tokhirov, Samandar Solijonov and ASBC Asian Junior Champion Nusratbek Tokhirov could be Uzbekistan’s key youth boxers in 2021.

The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation hosted national events for their women’s elite, youth and junior boxers, furthermore to their men’s elite and junior athletes in the recent two months to keep all of their talents in the sport. Their next activity will be the Junior National Cup for the 2005-2006 born boxers to select the best talents for 2021.

The host of the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships, Khorezm is located in the Western part of the country in the lower reached of the Amu-Darya river and it borders with Turkmenistan, the Bukhara region and Karakalpakstan. The region produced also fantastic boxers in the recent nearly thirty years since the country’s independence from the Soviet Union.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 were eligible to compete in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships which age group will be effective for the international youth competitions in 2021. Their main goals could be the 2021 AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships and the ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships.

The Uzbek boxers proved great performance in the recent ASBC Championships in Fujairah and in Ulaanbaatar as in all of the previous editions. Uzbekistan’s best youth boxers attended in their Elite National Championships including stars as Login Petrov and Jakhongir Zokirov and those received the right to rest a bit and prepare in their gyms.

Altogether 335 boxers attended in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships in Khorezm where the best 22 remained in actions after the semi-finals. The lightweight (60kg) was the most popular category with 54 boxers on the board but the bantamweight (56kg) showed also impressive interest with its entry number of 52 athletes.

The first gold medal of the whole event was achieved by Akhmadjon Kuziboyev who defeated Farez Dusmatov in the final of the pinweight (46kg). Surkhondarya’s Khudjanazar Nortoziyev met for the gold medal with Khorezm region’s Mukhammadkodir Mamirjonov at the light flyweight (49kg) and he accomplished his goal taking the second title of the event.  

Mirkomil Saidokhunov defeated ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Bekzod Kholdorov in the semi-final of the flyweight (52kg) and continued his winning path against Zayniddin Zayniddinov. Lazizbek Yuldashev was the favourite of the bantamweight (56kg) and he has done enough to beat Ernazar Turabayev in the final.

Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships bronze medallist Gofurjon Tokhirov was active in the recent months and proved strong developments for the gold medal of the lightweight (60kg) when he met with Khusan Turdaliyev. In the battle of the stars at the light welterweight (64kg), ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships silver medallist Bekzod Bekmuradov suffered a loss to Kashkadarya’s one-year older Lazizbek Fattoyev.

Tashkent region’s 17-year-old Samandar Solijonov moved up two categories to the welterweight (69kg) and his efforts paid off against Abdulaziz Rashidov in the final of the welterweight (69kg) in Khorezm. Jasurbek Yuldashev achieved bronze in the 2019 Uzbekistan Junior National Championships which he changed into gold after beating Shoyadbek Kholdarov at the middleweight (75kg).

The light heavyweight (81kg) final was the next top quality of fight between two strong future hopes, Tashkent region’s Sardor Rakhmonberdiyev and Asadbek Umarov of Ferghana. Rakhmonberdiyev has done a strong revenge in the semi-finals and defeated Sarvarbek Sobirov which increased his motivation in the final to get his first youth title.

Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Champion 17-year-old Nusratbek Tokhirov moved up two categories to the heavyweight (91kg) and controlled his final over Shakhzodbek Rakhmonov of Ferghana. Salokhiddin Tokhirov defeated Ali Nuranov in the 2019 Uzbekistan Junior National Championships but their contest delivered the opposite result in Khorezm. Nuranov, whose brothers are also boxers, taught the first lesion and has done revenge in the final of the super heavyweight (+91kg).
