ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships – Hero of Day4 – Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva

The hero of the fourth competition day in the ASBC Asian Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships was Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva who advanced to the final of the light flyweight (48kg). The Uzbek talent eliminated the defending champion, Philippines’ Josie Gabuco and reached her career highlight with that success.

Uzbekistan’s Gulasal Sultonalieva was born in 1999 and joined to the national team in 2018 at the age of 19 when she competed at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships. She surprisingly defeated Kazakhstan’s Alua Balkybekova in the 2019 AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships and continued her progress in Dubai.

Following her excellent international preparation events, Sultonalieva had enough confidence to control most of the exchanges against Philippines’ former AIBA Women’s World Champion Josie Gabuco. The Filipino boxer not only won the gold medal in the last edition in Bangkok but she was awarded the Best Woman Boxer Trophy. The 12-years-younger Uzbek made her biggest scalp with her success over Gabuco and will be meeting for the gold medal with the neighbouring well-known Alua Balkybekova on the 30th of May.
