Arfiqanie Bin Ahmad Anshori and Khir Akyazlan Bin Azmi used their international experiences to win the Malaysian National Cup

The Malaysian National Cup was held in a small town in Lawin which is located in the Perak region of the country. Among the most experienced international level boxers Arfiqanie Bin Ahmad Anshori and Khir Akyazlan Bin Azmi both performed well in the National Cup and won their well-deserved titles in Lawin.
Record number of 108 elite male boxers competed for the medals in the Malaysian National Cup which shows strong development in the Southeast Asian country. Malaysia have had a successful Southeast Asian Games last August and their National Federation recognized more interest from the public to our sport. Malaysia’s best boxer their Southeast Asian Games winner Muhammad Fuad Bin Mohamed Redzuan had to miss the Malaysian National Cup among their top boxers.
Kenny Dalglish Ak Pangas was not the top favourite of the light flyweight (49kg) but his performance was more than enough to beat all of his rivals. He began his campaign with a classical KO success and continued his winning steps until the finals where he outpointed Zulkifli Bin Yusuf for the title.
Tuan Zaharonnizan Bin Tuan Daud had to show his best ever performance to beat all of his rivals at the flyweight (52kg) but he has done a successful mission in Lawin. Zaharonnizan defeated two youngsters in the final stages as Penang International Tournament winner Muhamad Azlizam Bin Abu Talib and Youth National Champion Amirul Hakim Bin Sakala.
Jemis Wong Lee Onn was one of the favourites at the bantamweight (56kg) who did his very best in Lawin when he met with an international level boxer Zulkhalaine Mohamed Noor in the final. The bantamweight (56kg) was one of the most popular categories in the Malaysian National Cup and 16 boxers fought for the title.
Arfiqanie Bin Ahmad Anshori has competed already in the Singapore 2015 Southeast Asian Games and his international experiences paid off in the Malaysian National Cup where he did enough to beat Penang International Tournament winner Mohamad Akram Rasit in the final of the lightweight (60kg). Eddy Kalai is also a well-known boxer in Malaysia’s boxing life but this time he claimed only bronze.
Muhamad Firdaus Bin Kamarulzaman is an experienced boxer in Malaysia who competed successfully at the light welterweight (64kg) in Lawin and used the best tactic against his final opponent, Wan Hafizuddin Bin Wan Hasan. The gold medal of the welterweight (69kg) has gone to Mohamed Azizie Bin Abd Wahab who controlled his final against Mohamed Hazwan Khamis.
ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Khir Akyazlan Bin Azmi moved up to the middleweight (75kg) just before the start of the Malaysian National Cup. The 26-year-old boxer, who is member of the national team since 2009, had a few difficulties but his pressurizing tactic was enough to get his next title after beating Mohamed Aswan Bin Che Azmi by split decision.
Penang International Tournament winner Wan Mohamed Rizuan Bin Wan Aziz attended several national events in the past who was not only aiming for the title of the light heavyweight (81kg) but did successful task against Mohamed Hanafi Fairuz in the final. Two-time Southeast Asian Games competitor Rudy Bin Petrus moved up to the heavyweight (91kg) who eliminated Dorairaj Palani in the semi-final and walked over to the title against Rashid Omar.
