Amazing preliminary battles in the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships

The Uzbekistan Boxing Federation’s new event, their Youth National Championships saw amazing preliminary contests in the historical city of Bukhara. Boxers at the flyweight (51kg), bantamweight (54kg), featherweight (57kg), lightweight (60kg), light middleweight (71kg) and light heavyweight (80kg) opened their campaigns with top contests.

Uzbekistan amazed in the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships, their boxers earned dozens of medals and titles in the United Arab Emirates. Most of their young talents are highly experienced with more than 100 contests during their career therefore the level is absolutely world class in Bukhara.

Uzbekistan Boxing Federation could not organize any of the national events in the recent three months due to the next wave of the Covid-19 but the country is now strong enough in vaccination. The Uzbekistan Youth National Championships holds for their male boxers who were born in 2004 and in 2005. These young but experienced Uzbek talents can compete in the upcoming international youth competitions in 2022.

According to the current rules, the boxers can compete in the official 13 youth categories from the light flyweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg). The number of the participating boxers is 362 in the new edition of the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships which is a higher figure in comparison to the 2020 event.

ASBC Vice-President and Chairman of the ASBC Fund & Development Commission Mr. Saken Polatov opened the Uzbekistan Youth National Championships in Bukhara. Bukhara is an ancient city in Uzbekistan which was one of the stops in the Great Silk Road trade route during the Middle Ages between East and West. Bukhara was also one of the educational and cultural centre of the Islamic theology and science between the 9th and the 17th centuries.

Forty-three boxers are attending at the bantamweight (54kg) in Bukhara where the whole national event opened the contest between Surkhondarya’s Alihaydar Haydarov and Tashkent’s Abdullokh Hamutov. Haydarov eliminated his rival and advanced to the last 32 but his next rival is Anvar Boltaboyev who claimed silver medal at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.

Dzhizak’s Meron Inomjonov was not the favourite against Surkhondarya’s Tursunboy Tursunov but he managed to win this narrow contest in Bukhara which means he can continue against Ferghana’s Dovudbek Makhamadjonov at the bantamweight (54kg). As one of the first local boxers, Bukhara’s Amirbek Tursunov controlled his opening battle in the same weight class against Mukhammad Farkhodov but he can expect a tough job against Sayat Ilyasov who impressed in the CIS Junior Games in Kazan, Russia one month ago.

The most popular division is the lightweight (60kg) with the participation of 44 young talents in Bukhara. Surkhondarya’s Jakhongir Narziyev was gold medallist at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and opened his campaign successfully against Samarkand’s Rajabboy Pirnazarov which means he advanced to the last 32and will now meet with Ibratbek Davlatov. Boxers at the flyweight (51kg) began their campaign also in the preliminary stage of the Youth National Championships. Andizhan’s Asadbek Uramov bowed out Ravshanbek Vayitov in one of the first contests of this weight class but his next rival will be a key boxer, Javokhir Koysinov who won the gold medal at the Commonwealth of Independent States Junior Games in Kazan.
