Amazing Asians in the third competition day in Busto Arsizio

The Asian boxers amazed in the third competition day at the 1st World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Busto Arsizio, Italy today.

Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, the Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam are the 26 participating Asian countries in Busto Arsizio.

Rimma Volosenko is one of the most experienced Kazakh girls who won her second contest in Busto Arsizio today. The lightweight (60kg) boxer dominated the first round against Hungary’s Petra Szabo when the referee counted her opponent and following that, Volosenko continued her top performance. The Kazakh girl advanced to the last 16 and she saved fuel for the later actions in the third round in today’s contest.

Japan’s Ayaka Taguchi has five years of experience in the elite national team and the lightweight (60kg) boxer arrived in Busto Arsizio in top shape. Taguchi not only won her first contest in the World Qualifier but she managed to beat Croatia’s Sara Beram in the second preliminary round.

South Korea’s best boxer, the Asian Games winner and Asian Champion Oh Yeon Ji missed the quota in Hangzhou but she had the strong motivation in the third competition day to do her very best. The South Korean veteran eliminated Venezuela’s Krisandy Rios using her speedy counter-attacks and nice combinations today.

Uzbekistan’s Tokyo Olympian Raykhona Kodirova returned to the national team in time last year to secure her place at the women’s lightweight (60kg). The 30-year-old Uzbek boxer faced a professional Spanish boxer, Sheila Martinez and she had hard job in this contest but Kodirova marched to the last 16 winning this challenge by 4:1 split decision.

Turkmenistan had excellent results in the previous two competition days, their Shukur Ovezov, Bayramdurdy Nurmuhammedov and Nuryagdy Nuryagdyyev all won their openers against strong rivals. Turkmenistan’s light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer, the 23-year-old Saparmyrat Odayev also had a successful mission on Day3, he won all of the three rounds against Sweden’s Hampus Broman in each of the scorecards.

Thailand’s 28-year-old Somchay Wongsuwan trained hard in the recent one year but he did not compete too much in this period. The Thai replaced Bunjong Sinsiri at the light welterweight (63.5kg), he looked fresh, and energetic against Pakistan’s Ibrahim Khan therefore his hand was raised after the last gong.

Philippines’ Mark Ashley Fajardo knocked out his first opponent at the Asian Games and he repeated that KO success in Busto Arsizio against Portugal’s Albertino Monteiro at the light welterweight (63.5kg). His teammate, Ronald Chavez Jr. Cape Verde’s Bruno Fernandes 3:2

Jordan’s Tokyo Olympian Zeyad Eshaish had a tough opener against Tajikistan’s ex-Russian Shokhobzhon Shukurov but he marched into the last 32. Among the Asian favourites of the light middleweight (71kg), Uzbekistan’s Asadkhudja Muydinkhudjayev eliminated Algeria’s Youcef Islam Yaiche, while Kazakhstan’s World Champion Aslanbek Shymbergenov stopped Finland’s Sam Morovati in the second round.

Kyrgyzstan’s Syrgak Abdyzhapar Uulu replaced Nuradin Rustambek Uulu at the light middleweight (71kg) and he bowed out an African boxer, Seychelles’ Shain Boniface on Day3. His teammate, Mirzokhid Imamnazarov had some difficulties in the first, but he turned up the heat against Nigeria’s Michael Abiola in the second round and the referee stopped this light welterweight (63.5kg) bout. Uzbekistan’s Ruslan Abdullayev is the defending World Champion at the light welterweight (63.5kg) but he decided his contest against India’s veteran Shiva Thapa within 100 seconds and the referee stopped this Round of 32 fight. Japan’s Shion Nishiyama, Tajikistan’s Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov and Kazakhstan’s Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu also won their contests in this weight class.
