Altogether 71 Asian boxers from 15 nations are able to compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games

The Tokyo Olympic Games is approaching and all of the teams are in the final stage of the preparations. The final list of boxers has been issued in the recent days and after a few injuries and declines, all places are engaged for the Games.

The Asian countries earned plenty of gold, silver and bronze medals in the recent Olympic Games in Athens, in Beijing, in London and in Rio de Janeiro therefore the expectations of the continent are high in Tokyo.

The Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event was held in Amman, Jordan on March 2020 and following the cancellations of the World Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event the remaining quotas have been decided through the Ranking.

Altogether 71 Asian boxers including 26 women and 45 men are able to represent their nations in the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games. The final number of the boxers is 289 in the Games where thirteen champions will be crowned. DPR Korea decided not to attend in the Olympic Games and their quota place at the women’s flyweight (51kg)

Fifteen Asian nations have the right to attend in the boxing tournament of the Olympics and all of them have the chance to earn medals in Tokyo. Several of the Asian countries are in training camp in Japan currently to acclimatize to the local environment and climate.

The following Asian nations will be attending in the Tokyo Olympic Games:

– Uzbekistan: 11 boxers

– Kazakhstan, India: 9 boxers

– China: 6 boxers

– Japan, Jordan, Thailand: 5 boxers

– Chinese Taipei, Philippines: 4 boxers

– Mongolia, Tajikistan: 3 boxers

– Iran, South Korea, Vietnam: 2 boxers

– Bahrain: 1 boxer
