Almuwallad, Alhawsaw and Alsafadi were the best male boxers at the Saudi Arabian Kingdom’s Cup

The Saudi Arabian Men’s Elite National Championships, their Kingdom’s Cup featured in Riyadh and 13 champions celebrated their titles.

The Saudi Arabians competed in several events including the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai on December 2024 which delivered for them a historic bronze medal.

After the regional selection tournaments, their elite boxers competed in the Kingdom’s Cup from the minimumweight (48kg) up to the super heavyweight (+92kg) to select the best hopes for the upcoming international championships.

Nawaf Awaji not only controlled the first round of his minimumweight (48kg) final against Alowa Al-Iqasi but he finished the job in the second. His teammate, Nayef Al-Hudhaifi won the flyweight (51kg) over Omar Mishnawi in a more difficult way.

The Arab Youth Championships bronze medallist Mohammed Almuwallad turned to elite and he quickly won the bantamweight (54kg) at the Kingdom’s Cup. The Youth World Championships competitor enjoyed his new category and defeated a well-experienced boxer, Abdulaziz Al-Otabi by 4:1 split decision.

Ayman Alamodi from the Western-Southern Region triumphed over Mohammed Alkridis at the featherweight (57kg) in Riyadh. Thamer Almatrfi bagged bronze medal at the 2024 Saudi Arabian National Games which he changed into gold at the lightweight (60kg).

Mousa Zubayr Alhawsaw represented Saudi Arabia at the recent ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand and he was unstoppable in the Kingdom’s Cup on home soil. The 22-year-old boxer defeated Mohammed Alzawwadi in the final of the light welterweight (63.5kg) using his international routine.

A new light middleweight (71kg) hope, Majed Issa was bronze medallist at the 2024 Saudi Arabian National Games which he switched into gold at the Kingdom’s Cup. A former Swedish boxer, Majd Alsafadi had the quickest victory in the entire national event, his opponent, Faris Alwaheed abandoned their final in the first round.

Ahmed Ali Alsaif won the super heavyweight (+92kg) at the Eastern Area Championships one year ago and he moved down to the heavyweight (92kg) successfully to take the title in Riyadh against Musaad Al-Saud while Ahmed Al-Zahran from the Central Region won the last gold medal in the event.
