Almaty’s talents shined in the first session of the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships

Following the Kazakhstan Youth National Championships, their Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships began in the city of Almaty. The host city’s junior boxers as Shakhnaz Taiyrzhanova and Akerke Serik shined in the first session of the national event while Akbota Bolat had also a clear dominancy.

Boxers who were born in 2003 and in 2004 are eligible to attend in the first Kazakhstan Women’s Youth National Championships. The younger boxers from the 2005 and 2006 age groups can box at the Kazakhstan Women’s Junior National Championships in Almaty.

The youth girls can compete in 11 categories from the pinweight (46kg) up to the heavyweight (+81kg) in Almaty. The younger junior talents can attend for the medals in 14 divisions from the pre-pinweight (44kg) up to the heavyweight (+80kg) in the Kazakhstan Women’s Youth & Junior National Championships.

The youth event is a preparation and selection before the main international goals of the year including the upcoming AIBA Youth World Boxing Championships which is scheduled to be held in Kielce, Poland on April 10-24.

Almaty’s junior girls shined in the first session of the event

Almaty’s Shakhnaz Taiyrzhanova controlled the first round against Turkestan region’s Mekhribanu Yuldashbekova and she decided their contest in the second, stopping her opponent in the second period at the junior light flyweight (48kg). Another Almaty-based boxer, Akerke Serik is the main favourite for the gold medal at the junior flyweight (50kg) but she had to do her very best. Serik, who came from the boxing family, was nervous in her opening bout on home soil but finally she managed to beat Darina Khamzina.

Great battles at the junior bantamweight (54kg)

Atyrau region’s Nural Zhumabayeva was slightly better than East Kazakhstan’s Aruzhan Moldakulova at the junior bantamweight (54kg) in Almaty but she survived the dangerous moments. Almaty’s Anar Salimbay also had difficulties in her debuting contest against Turkestan region’s Akerke Kozhambet which she won by split decision. Karagandy region’s 15-year-old Dilnaz Sekisheva stopped Aizere Bekova in the third big battle of the bantamweight (54kg) in Almaty.

Bolat and Baytakova opened their campaigns strongly

Kyzyl-Orda region’s Akbota Bolat is one of the favourites for the gold medal at the youth light flyweight (48kg) therefore she opened her campaign in high confidence against Aruzhan Kabylkhanova. The 17-year-old boxer knocked down her opponent and the referee stopped their unequal contest in Almaty. Karagandy region’s Zhasmin Baytakova also stopped her opponent, Alfiya Mukhidenova of Atyrau region.
