AIBA Youth World Champion Hayato Tsutsumi and Issei Aramoto were the teenage stars of the Akira Yamane Cup
The first edition of the Akira Yamane Cup was held in the city of Miyazaki where seven men weight classes were held. The competition was named by the current President of the Japanese Boxing Federation Mr. Akira Yamane. Japan’s AIBA Youth World Champion Hayato Tsutsumi, powerful Tomoya Tsuboi, Rio 2016 Olympian Arashi Morisaka and another teenager Issei Aramoto all impressed in the Akira Yamane Cup.
ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist and Doha 2015 AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor Tomoya Tsuboi is member of the national team since 2015 and following his Japanese national titles he won the 1st Akira Yamane Cup in Miyazaki. The 21-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer defeated ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Tosho Kashiwasaki in the final.
ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships quarter-finalist and Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships competitor 22-year-old Ryusei Baba was also impressed in the final of the Akira Yamane Cup. Baba had to face with defending ASBC Asian Youth Champion teenage hope Ryutaro Nakagaki in the final of the flyweight (52kg) but he found the weak points of his opponent.
Current AIBA Youth World Champion and two-time ASBC Asian Youth Champion Hayato Tsutsumi competed in his first ever Japanese Elite National Championships in Fukui last November but he won the title with top performance. The 18-year-old super talented boxer continued his amazing winning series and defeated Kota Kaneko in the final of the bantamweight (56kg).
Rio 2016 Olympian Arashi Morisaka is the current Japanese National Champion at the lightweight (60kg) who had several international fights since 2011. The 22-year-old boxer had defeated Asian Games Test Event silver medallist promising Rentaro Kimura in the final of the last Japanese National Championships and Morisaka was able to beat his top rival once again in Miyazaki.
Rio 2016 Olympian and ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships bronze medallist Daisuke Narimatsu is Japan’s most experienced international level boxer who returned to the world of boxing at the light welterweight (64kg) after a short break. The 28-year-old boxer defeated Yuta Akiyama once again following the Japanese National Championships but he was not able to deliver his very best in the final of the Akira Yamane Cup.
Japan’s ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships bronze medallist Issei Aramoto is a great prospect at the welterweight (69kg) in Japan who competed only in his second elite competition. Aramoto lost to experienced Hiroaki Kinjo in the last National Championships but the 18-year-old teenage talent did a classical revenge in the final of the Akira Yamane Cup in Miyazaki.
Yuito Moriwaki was born in 1996 and he trains in the Hosei University but he is not a well-known boxer in the international level yet. The young middleweight (75kg) boxer impressed in the Asian Games Test Event last month which he won by large margin of differences and following that international success he was able to beat Ryusai Onikura in the final of the Akira Yamane Cup.
