Afghanistan’s new national selection event is in progress

The Afghanistan Elite National Selection Tournament for the Kabul-based boxers are underway in the country’s capital city and new hopes are shining in the event.

Kabul is a busy boxing city in Afghanistan with dozens of boxing clubs and thousands of boxing enthusiast despite the difficulties which affect the country.

The developing Afghanistan earned record number of silver and bronze medals at the recent ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka which was a new milestone in the country’s boxing life.

The 32nd round of boxing competitions, named in honor of the late Abdul Ghafoor Ragbat, has commenced in Kabul city. Afghanistan has several regional and city competitions every year next to their National Championships, Hameedi Memorial Tournament and other local boxing events.

The new event is organized by the Afghanistan National Boxing Federation in cooperation with the General Directorate of the Olympic Committee, Physical Education, and Sports of the country, featuring 200 pugilists from 24 various clubs in Kabul.

In this tournament, athletes in the adult age category will compete against each other for three days. At the conclusion, the top three athletes will be selected by the referees and judges based on the highest scores.

The event is for the novice elite male boxers and holds in all of the official men’s weight categories in Kabul. The management of the Afghanistan National Boxing Federation are following all of the bouts to find new talents in the capital city’s event.

Afghanistan will have several new events, national competitions in the upcoming months to keep their boxers in all age groups busy.
