Afghanistan Boxing Federation is planning to send record number of boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships

The President of the Afghanistan Boxing Federation Mr. Abdullah Sattari and their Secretary General Mr. Waheedullah Hameedi are working hard to send their boxers as many international competitions as possible in the upcoming months. The Afghans are planning to send record number of boxers to the upcoming ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships which will be held in New Delhi, India on May 21-31.

Their team delegation size could be maximum number of male boxers covering all of the weight categories with three women boxers on the board. Afghanistan Boxing Federation is proud of their women team which established in the year of 2008 and since then their girls competed in several international events.

Afghanistan’s Ramish Rahmani caused several surprises in the last edition of the ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Bangkok and advanced to the quarter-finals. He was the most successful Afghan boxer also at the 2019 Indonesian President’s Cup where he claimed silver medal at the flyweight (52kg). Besides to some of his teammates, he could be Afghanistan’s best weapon in the New Delhi 2021 edition.

Their youth boxers competed in an international youth tournament in Komsomolsk-na-Amure in February and their management is planning more activities for their athletes in 2021. The Afghans are planning to attend in levels of boxing in the elite, youth, junior and schoolboys age groups this year.

The Afghanistan Boxing Federation also launched its new project under the name of Systematization and Standardization to digitalize their data in the whole country. Afghanistan Boxing Federation will be distributing more official licences for more than 300 club throughout the country which supports their identification in an online database.

Afghanistan achieved two fantastic bronze medals in the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships one and half year ago and their boxers amazed the experts with their stamina and fighting spirit. Their boxers competed in the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event and all of the recent ASBC Championships.

The Afghanistan Boxing Federation hosted all of their national championships in each age group and other most important competitions in 2020 such as the Hameedullah Hameedi Memorial Tournament in Kabul.
