A promising talent Dmitriy Puchnin was named at the Best Boxer of the Kyrgyz Elite National Championships

The twelve finals contests were held on the fifth competition day at the Elite National Boxing Championships of the Kyrgyz Republic in Bishkek. A 21-year-old promising talent, Dmitriy Puchnin proved amazing developments since his last national event and became the Best Boxer of the Championships. Mr. Mukash Yrsaliev was named as the Best Referee & Judge while Mr. Kenzhebek Akelbayev as the Best Coach of the National Championships.

Kyrgyzstan’s Elite National Boxing Championships was a selection tournament for the World Olympic Boxing Qualification Event which is scheduled to be held on June 2021. The Kyrgyz Boxing Federation arranged live online coverage during the event and the venue of the National Championships was also excellent in Bishkek.

The number of the participants was 120 including eight girls and fourteen champions are crowned in the Kyrgyz National Championships this weekend. The most popular category is the welterweight (69kg) where 18 boxers were fighting for the medals but the light welterweight (63kg) had also tough battles. Both categories delivered strong contests and big surprises in the National Championships.

Khalilova and Akbalayeva won the women finals in Bishkek

Bishkek’s veteran Shakhriza Khalilova decided to return to national events after a few years of break and she is keeping the focus to the 2021 international competitions. The experienced Kyrgyz girl was too strong for all of her opponents including Osh region’s Zukhra Kurmanayeva in the final of the women’s featherweight (57kg). The second female gold medal was achieved by Batken region’s Begaiym Akbalayeva who controlled her final over a teenage talent, Ayday Askerova.

ASBC medallists experienced Mirlan Turkbay Uulu and Azat Usenaliev are still on the top of the national level

One of the Kyrgyz veteran boxers, ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Mirlan Turkbay Uulu defeated all of the teenage talents in the National Championships including Anvar Khodzhiyev and Asylbek Amankul Uulu at the light flyweight (49kg). Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Champion and Asian Games bronze medallist Azat Usenaliev are fully focusing to qualify for his first Olympic Games therefore he is in top form and won the title of the flyweight (52kg) against Nurzhigit Duishebayev.

Esenbek Uulu and Imamnazarov won the next two weight classes

Akylbek Esenbek Uulu represented Kyrgyzstan at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in Amman and the 22-year-old boxer tried to do his very best in the final of the featherweight (57kg). The Bishkek-based boxer defeated his main national rival Munarbek Seyitbek Uulu in the final while Kyrgyzstan’s future star Sanzhar Seidakmatov claimed bronze medal in the event. The lightweight (60kg) was won by a 19-year-old talent, Mirzokhid Imamnazarov who defeated Khusniddin Pratov in the final.

Unexpected winners at the men’s light welterweight (63kg) and at the welterweight (69kg)

Issyk-Kul region’s Dmitriy Puchnin developed step by step and his coach Mr. Beyshen Sabatarov built the 21-year-old talent well enough. He won the final of the light welterweight (63kg) well enough and controlled all of the three rounds against another young hope, Sultan Asankul Uulu. The top favourite of the welterweight (69kg) ASBC Asian Youth Champion Nuradin Rustambek Uulu was eliminated by Osh region’s 19-year-old Omurbek Mamanov but the title of the category was won by Syrgak Abdyzhapar Uulu.

Bekzhigit Uulu and Adylbek Uulu controlled the finals of the middleweight (75kg) and light heavyweight (81kg)

Bishkek’s ASBC Asian Boxing Championships quarter-finalist Omurbek Bekzhigit Uulu is eliminated Daniyar Damirdin Uulu in the semi-finals and continued his winning path against Osh’s Zharkynbek Turatov taking the title of the middleweight (75kg) as expected. ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist and Rio 2016 Olympian Erkin Adylbek Uulu was too smart for 18-year-old Bakyt Toktosun Uulu in the final of the light heavyweight (81kg) defending his throne.

Rustam Yrysbek Uulu and Bekbolsun Toktosun Uulu won the heaviest weight categories in the National Championships

Rustam Yrysbek Uulu moved up to the heavyweight (91kg) in the recent years and the 21-year-old talent is near to get involved to the top national team of the country. The young Bishkek-based boxer defeated a veteran athlete, returning Ilyar Akhmetov who competed internationally already in 2002. Bekbolsun Toktosun Uulu won the last title of the Kyrgyz National Championships after beating Amman 2013 ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist Sergei Parenko in the final of the super heavyweight (+91kg).
