The highlight of the week will be the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament in Bangkok with the participation of more than 30 countries
The Thailand Boxing Association will be hosting the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament in the upcoming days which will be the main highlight of the international events until July 7. The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament will be held in Bangkok from June 28 until July 7 to celebrate the coronation of the King Rama X of Thailand and finally 163 boxers from 33 nations registered to take part.
The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament could be one of the biggest elite tournaments in 2018, not only in the Asian continent but in the world as well. The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament will be a top preparation event for the Jakarta 2018 Asian Games and the local organizers are ready to welcome the boxers of our continent. The Technical Delegate of the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament will be Mr. Keith Walker of New Zealand.
The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament was previously known as the King’s Cup and the first edition was held in 1975. In the recent years the local organizers can use another name for the event and opened the competition for all countries. The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament is one of the most popular Asian international events where the top boxing nations such as Kazakhstan, Thailand, Russia, China, India, Cuba, Uzbekistan, Australia, United States of America and Mongolia are all expecting to take part.
The Thailand Open Boxing Tournament will be held in seven men elite weight classes from the light flyweight (49kg) up to the middleweight (75kg) in Bangkok. Money prizes will be presented for the individual boxers and also for the best three teams of the Thailand Open Boxing Tournament. Due the high number of participants the rest day was cancelled on July 4 when the quarter-finals are re-scheduled in Bangkok.
