Chanthilath and Khamsathone dominated the Laos National Championships in Vientiane

The Laos National Boxing Championships was held for the juniors, elite women and men boxers in Vientiane. Laos’ promising woman boxer Daomayuly Chanthilath and their best man athlete Khamphouvanh Khamsathone both won the titles in the National Championships beating their rivals large margin of differences.
The elite men boxers could attend in six weight classes in the Laos National Boxing Championships in Vientiane. Women elite athletes fought in five weight categories while also five champions were crowned among the men juniors. Altogether 128 boxers competed in the national event from 18 boxing clubs.
Laos competed in the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok, in the Southeast Asian Games in Kuala Lumpur and in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City last year. Their younger hopes have been preparing to the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships.
The first gold medal of the Laos National Championships was achieved by Loungfa Panyaphone at the men’s junior pinweight (46kg) where he was too smart for the defending champion of the category Somxay Samai Insone. The second title in the men’s junior level was delivered by Souksakhone Inthavong who eliminated Bounmy Xayalath in the final of the flyweight (50kg).
Santi Noikhanae won the third title in the men’s junior level after beating Phanjeuang Bounheaung at the light bantamweight (52kg). Siphae Manichanh will be turning 18 only later this year but he is already an experienced athlete who defeated Houmphanh Khammaty in the next final. Kongthong Vonghalath also impressed in the men’s junior level when he triumphed over Bounmixay Sanaxai in the lightweight (60kg) final.
Daomayuly Chanthilath competed in the ASBC Asian Confederation Women’s Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City last November short after her 19th birthday and those experiences paid off in the Laos National Championships. The promising teenager dominated all of her fights in Vientiane and defeated newcomer Nouning Inthavong in the final of the women’s elite flyweight (51kg).
The further gold medals in the women part of the Laos National Championships were achieved by Phanh Sihakhoth, former bronze medallist Pany Aphilat, Soi Souvanthong and Kong Phailath. All of them were achieved their first ever gold medals in the history of the Laos Women’s National Championships.
Khamphouvanh Khamsathone is Laos’ best future hope in men’s boxing who competed in the recent editions of the ASBC Asian Confederation Youth Boxing Championships and proved strong technique also in the national event. The 20-year-old light flyweight (49kg) boxer defended his throne in Vientiane following his success in the final over Phetdaentai Salavanh. Khamsathone achieved his third-in-a-row title in the Laos National Championships and has got realistic chance to represent the country in the upcoming Asian Games.
Chanthavy Sisoulath (52kg), Chanthakob Chantha (56kg), Voradeth Simmaleuk (60kg), Noukhit Lathsaphao (64kg) and Soukanh Sichanh (69kg) secured the further titles in the men’s elite section. The next national event will be the Laos National Games which will be taking place in November 11-21 after the Asian Games.
