Mr. Abdul Rahman Abbasi is the new Boxing President in Syria

The General Assembly of the Syrian Boxing Federation was chaired the former President and the Technical Delegate of the international events, Mr. Mohamed Kamel Shbib and the new President was elected with the Board in Damascus.
The General Assembly of the Syrian Boxing Federation elected Mr. Abdul Rahman Abbasi as the new President in Damascus.
The Federation’s Board of Directors elected him for the upcoming term, with a majority of 24 votes out of the 39. His rivals for the Presidency of the Syrian Boxing, a former boxer, Mr. Adnan Watar and Mr. Hazem Nabaa, were unsuccessful.
The General Assembly also elected the new Board members of the Federation: Mr. Mahmoud Salloum, Mr. Abdul Qader Sheikh Al-Ashra, Mr. Sobhi Halima, Rabie Hajjar, Mr. Haitham Hourani, and Mr. Ghufran Rahibani.
The elections were held in the presence of Dr. Ibrahim Aba Zaid, Director of the Organization Directorate; Mr. Ismail Al-Mustafa, Director of the Individual Sports Directorate; Mr. Majd Al-Din Maghribi, Director of the Powerlifting Directorate; and Mr. Michel Khoury, a member of the Higher Election Committee.
Altogether 39 delegates out of the 46 members of the General Assembly attended the election conference. The General Assembly voted to abolish the certificate requirement for candidates by a majority of 28 votes and to abolish the age limit requirement by a majority of 32 votes out of 39.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Abbasi is a former Syrian and Arab boxing champion, he won numerous international matches and tournaments.
Mr. Abbasi holds a higher coaching certificate from the Leipzig Institute, a diploma in sports medicine and physiotherapy from the Dresden Academy in Germany, and he has completed several international solidarity-training courses.
He has been a coach on the technical staff of the national team and the police team for many years, supporting the Syrian boxers in numerous Arab, Asian, Mediterranean, and world championships, as well as a good number of international courses in various countries.
He previously served as head of the Technical Committee in Damascus, then as a member, secretary, and Vice-President of the Federation, and the head of the Higher Coaches Committee.
