India’s Sachin returns to the World Boxing Championships with medal expectations

India’s ace, Sachin Krishan Kumar will return to the squad at the upcoming IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships which will be held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on December 2-13.

The Indians arranged their National Championships a few weeks ago which was the main selection event for the World Championships. Mr. Rajiv Godara, Mr. Sandeep, Mr. Jaspreet Singh, Mr. Dharmendra Singh and Mr. Jagdish Parshad will be the coaches of the 13-strong team in Dubai.

The teams can arrive to Dubai on November 30, the first competition day is December 3 while the finals are schedule to be held on December 13.

The total prize money of the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships will be 8.32 million US dollars and the best 104 boxers can earn these amounts in Dubai.

Rajasthan’s Devendra Singh Solanki is only 20-year-old but he achieved two gold medals in national events at the minimumweight (48kg) this year. Haryana’s Ashu Mani Ram (51kg) and Punjab’s experienced Manoj Kumar (54kg) won the national titles in 2025 and both have been selected to participate in Dubai.

Sachin Krishan Kumar is the biggest name in the national team who claimed a gold at the 2016 Youth World Boxing Championships and a silver medal at the 2017 Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Bangkok. The 26-year-old tall boxer moved up to the featherweight (57kg) and he is aiming for a medal in Dubai.

Uttar Pradesh’s Mohit Thakur competed successfully in several editions of the Talent Hunt Boxing Championships and he will be India’s boxer at the lightweight (60kg) in Dubai. Shubham Kapil (63.5kg), the University Games silver medallist Praveen Kumar (67kg) and Yashpal Kumar (71kg) all will be participating boxers from the Haryana region.

The 24-year-old Ankit Kumar is a technician boxer at the middleweight (75kg) with gold medals from the national and state competitions. Pravesh Kumar won all of his competitions at the light heavyweight (80kg) this year and he has strong medal hopes in Dubai.

Harpal Singh is the most experienced boxer in the travelling team who achieved a bronze medal at the 2010 Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Tehran and a gold at the 2015 World Military Games.

Assam’s Akash Kachari is the youngest in the team who turned to 19 only this September but he was finalist in three of the national competitions in 2025. Punjab’s Bikramjeet Singh has six years of national experience and he will be competing at the super heavyweight (+92kg) in Dubai.
