Nepal will send five experienced boxers to Dubai

Nepal selected five boxers for the upcoming IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships which will be the highlight of the month of December.
Nepal’s coach, their last Asian Games medallist, Mr. Deepak Maharjan arranged all of the preparation sessions and the plans for the national team.
The next edition of the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships will be held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on December 1-14. The competition period of the Championships in Dubai is December 3-13 including a rest day on the 12th.
The total prize money of the IBA Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships will be 8.32 million US dollars and the best 104 boxers can earn these amounts in Dubai.
Funglang Kambang Limbu is not the most experienced in the national team but he progressed so rapidly in terms of speed and techniques that Mr. Deepak Maharjan selected him to represent Nepal at the minimumweight (48kg).
Nepal’s ace in the national team, Lal Prasad Upreti competed in several top championships worldwide in the recent two years and the technician boxer could be a surprise at the flyweight (51kg) in Dubai.
Chandra Bahadur Thapa also represented Nepal in several top championships in various continents in the previous years. He moved up to the bantamweight (54kg) for this championship and the young talent is aiming for the Top8 in Dubai.
Khagendra Rokka Magar is Nepal’s best lightweight (60kg) boxer who had successful events in the Prakash Dahal Championships, the National Selection Tournament and other competitions to compete in Dubai.
The 35-year-old Deepak Shrestha is the veteran in the national team who competed for Nepal in all levels of boxing in the recent nearly fifteen years. The Asian Championships competitor claimed all of the national titles, the selection events in the previous two years and he will represent Team Nepal at the light heavyweight (80kg).
