Janati, Moni and Prasetyo claimed titles at the Indonesian Student National Games

Indonesia increased its activities in the recent nearly three months and their new event, the Student National Sports Games, the so-called Popnas celebrated its seven female and nine male gold medallists.

The event has strong traditions from the past and the current was the 17th editions in the competition’s long history. The Indonesian Boxing Federation has just celebrated its 66th anniversary and their management continues to host more competitions.

Jakarta’s Anggie Intania Chalik bagged the first gold medal in the women’s part of the competition, she defeated Lusy Rahmawati at the minimumweight (48kg).

The women’s light flyweight (50kg) had already impressive quarter-final contests in the Games and Jakarta’s Fani Afnan Janati not only joined the finals but she defeated Maluku’s Veroza to take the gold medal.

Another boxer from Jakarta, Marion Manuesa Simorangkir has strong family connections to our sport and she was unstoppable for Nadine Dwi Aryani at the women’s flyweight (52kg).

Sayna Safira outpointed Jasmine Ceta Chaerudin during her road to the women’s bantamweight (54kg) final and Jakarta’s Miranda Makaronggala was also not able to stop her gold medal campaign in the Games.

Dira Artika (57kg), Sumiarni Siboro (60kg) and Shafira Ailani (63kg) earned the remaining gold medals in the women’s part of the Games.

Natzriel Senen was the first male winner while the men’s minimumweight (48kg) is always one of the strongest categories in Indonesia and that delivered great battles. Maluku’s Mubin Moni could celebrate the title after beating Christian Junior Tallo for the gold medal.

Jawa’s Geraldi Millagros Sabu had the next strong performance in the Popnas and he triumphed over Adriano Sihotang at the flyweight (51kg) final.

Jawa’s next top talent, Gabriel Prasetyo Manopo stopped his opponent, Muhammad Maulana in the quarter-final stage of the men’s bantamweight (54kg) and he was also too smart for Jakarta’s Ferdy Trisius Hosea Tinam in the final.

Canro David Behkam Situmo and his teammate Zul Fandi Ardiansyah bagged the next male titles in the Games with clear triumphs in their respective finals.
