Surati, Wonda and Alfons were the best elite male boxers at the Indonesian National Championships

Marceilo Surati, Krispinus Mariano Wonda and Gresty Alfons dominated their finals at the Indonesian National Championships in Palu City.

The venue of the Indonesian National Championships was the promising Palu City in the island of Sulawesi. The Palu City is the capital of Central Sulawesi Province in Indonesia and it is located in the northwest coast of the island.

The Indonesian Boxing Federation celebrated its 66th anniversary end of this month and the competition is another great commitment from their new management. The new President of the Indonesian Boxing Federation, Mrs. Dr. Hillary Brigitta Lasut, S.H., LL.M. and the top officials all followed the bouts in the venue.

The minimumweight (48kg) is a strong category in Indonesia and the winner of the Nationals Marceilo Surati impressed the whole crowd. The Jawa island’s boxer defeated Bali’s Rizky Halil for the gold medal and he became the first male winner of the event.

Bali’s Krispinus Mariano Wonda was silver medallist in a Malaysian event this September and the flyweight (51kg) boxer controlled all of his contest in the National Championships including the final against Ronal of Sulawesi.

The next finalist from Sulawesi, Cristian Watesi succeeded at the bantamweight (54kg) final over Muhammad Mujib Borneo while Bali’s next hero, Jeklin Ndawa Njepi claimed the gold medal at the featherweight (57kg).

Tenggara Timur’s Aldi Imanuel Tse not only advanced to the final of the lightweight (60kg) in Palu City but he had the strong performance to beat Ramlan Kamidin of Sulawesi and he accomplished his career highlight.

Jateng’s Gresty Alfons is a veteran boxer who earned several medals in the Indonesian National Games, National Championships and other regional events. Alfons was one of the most experienced pugilists in the entire competition and he had the clear victory in the final of the light welterweight (63.5kg) over Mohamed Arif.

Maluku’s Mohamed Riza Midun controlled the welterweight (67kg) final against Delon Runtunuwu, while Kalimantan’s Juan Christiano Marqueez (71kg) and Jateng’s Burhanudin Aduraf (75kg) achieved the remaining elite male titles in Palu City.
