The Palestinian Boxing celebrates its National Day
The Palestinian Boxing celebrates their National Day today which is their most important holiday since 1988.
The Palestinian Declaration of Independence is a statement which was written by the Palestinian poet Mr. Mahmoud Darwish and proclaimed by the Chairman of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Mr. Yasser Arafat in Algiers on the 15th of November in 1988. The Independence Day is an official national holiday in Palestine on November 15th each year since 1988.
Palestine joined to the international boxing events in the 1990s and their boxers competed at the Asian Games and some other events.
Palestine claimed a historical bronze medal at the Kuwait City 2019 ASBC Asian Schoolboys Boxing Championships and their talents competed many international events with increasing successes. Despite of the hard Covid-19 situation, the Palestinians returned to the international stage of boxing in 2021.
Palestine sent strong delegation to the Dubai 2021 ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships where their boxers showed progress. Palestine sent one boxer to the Men’s Elite World Boxing Championships to Belgrade in 2021 and they competed with three pugilists at the 2023 Tashkent edition.
Palestine competed in all levels of boxing in the recent years and their athletes participated also in international tournaments in Europe as well. Their boxers competed in Montenegro, in Spain, in Germany, in the Netherlands, in Bosnia & Herzegovina and other countries as well.
The Palestinian Boxing Federation increased its activities in 2017 and the country’s sport is moving ahead step by step despite their hard political environment.
Palestine has also plans in longer terms for the upcoming one year to give bouts and experiences to their boxers in each age group. Their young elite team has the experience to make surprises in the international competitions next year.
