Iraq hosted the Hadi Karim Tournament

Iraq hosted its Hadi Karim Boxing Tournament for the schoolboys and U22 boxers in the Wasit Governorate of the country where ten winners celebrated their gold medals.

The new edition of the Hadi Karim Boxing Championships was organized by their international coach Mr. Abbas Al-Hamashi and teams from Central and Southern part of Iraq competed in this outstanding event.

Iraq arranged several regional competitions in the recent months and their training centres in Kirkuk and Karbala have impressive future talents in our sport.

The 2011 and the 2012 born boxers competed in the schoolboys age group in the Hadi Karim Tournament and many of them showed amazing fighting spirit.

One of the best schoolboys of the Hadi Karim Tournament, Mohammed Shanawa was too quick for Yasser Moussa at the 48kg weight class and he claimed an important gold medal in the competition.

The 14-year-old Haider Azhar defeated Hassan Abdel Hakim and he won the smallest weight class in the schoolboys age group, the 37kg in this regional event. Amir Muhammad Radi triumphed over Abbas Ahmed Saeed, while Ali Bassem defeated Muhammad Ali in the busy 46kg weight category.

The U22 boxers could compete in four weight categories in the event and all of the winners had strong pedigree from the past.

Muammal Haitham trains in the Karbala Boxing Club and he had the first outstanding performance at the U22 light middleweight to beat Dhiab Rami.

Iraq’s promising lightweight (60kg) boxer in the U22 age group, Murtadha Adnan eliminated Hassan Basem Nehme in the event while another ace of the category, Ali Raed was too strong for Hussein Basem Nehme.
