Rakhimov, Ubaydov, Usmonov and Boltayev are among the winners at the Tajikistan National Championships

Khusravkhon Rakhimov, Akmal Ubaydov, Bakhodur Usmonov and Davlat Boltayev all won their finals at the Tajikistan Elite National Championships in the city of Khudjand.

Khudjand, previously known as Leninabad, is located in North Tajikistan, it is the second largest city of the country. Khudjand is also one of the oldest cities of the Central Asian region which was established more than 2,500 years ago during the Persian Empire.

The best boxers of the country, both men and women, will participate in the new edition of the National Elite Boxing Championships. The Tajiks amazed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo claiming gold medals.

Altogether 19 female and 112 male boxers participated in the Tajikistan Elite National Championships in Khudjand. The participating teams were Dushanbe-1, Dushanbe-2, GBAO, Khatlon-1, Khatlon-2, Sughd and SHNTM.

Dushanbe’s Mekhron Shafiyev was the best boxer in the 2022 edition of the Tajikistan National Championships and he moved back to his best category, the minimumweight (48kg). The 23-year-old boxer used his impressive technical skills to catch Khatlon’s Abdukholik Fayzalizoda to take his next national title.

Sughd region’s ASBC Asian U22 medallist Meroj Sufijonov was too smart for Dushanbe’s Mekhrob Khamidov and he earned a title at the flyweight (51kg). Nuriddin Zoidov bagged the next gold medal for the host region’s team, he had a tough battle against Khasan Salokhiddinov at the bantamweight (54kg).

Sughd region’s next pride, the ASBC Asian U22 Championships silver medallist Khusravkhon Rakhimov had a tough featherweight (57kg) final against the returning Iskandarbek Rustamov but he managed to take the gold medal.

Dushanbe’s defending ASBC Asian Elite Champion at the lightweight (60kg), Akmal Ubaydov defeated two Asian medallists in the event, he knocked Abubakr Murodzoda and outpointed the 21-year-old Meroj Zoidov in the final.

Dushanbe’s ASBC Asian Champion and World bronze medallist Bakhodur Usmonov was too smart for the Asian medallist boxer, the 19-year-old Ruslan Gafurov in the next final. Dushanbe’s Shamsher Saidov defeated his main rivals to take the welterweight (67kg) title as Shukrat Salomatov and Fayzali Gulomov.

Murodjon Ashuraliyev returned to his homeland and he defeated Dovud Makhkamov, a World Championships competitor to take the light middleweight (71kg) title. Shakhobdzhon Shukurov used his patient style of boxing to win the middleweight (75kg) while Dushanbe’s Nekruz Salimov accomplished his goal at the light heavyweight (80kg).

The ASBC Asian Elite silver medallist Parviz Karimov defeated the former Junior World bronze medallist Akhmadjon Saidov in the final of the cruiserweight (86kg). The veteran Navruz Jafoyev took the heavyweight (92kg) gold, while the Asian Games winner Davlat Boltayev knocked out Dushanbe’s Mukhammad Abroridinov in the last final.
