The Tajikistan National Championships in underway in Khudjand

The Tajikistan Elite National Championships in underway in the city of Khudjand where neutral referees and officials are also working for the fair play results including the R&J Evaluator Mr. Berykbol Kassymkhanov of Kazakhstan.
Khudjand, previously known as Leninabad, is located in North Tajikistan, it is the second largest city of the country. Khudjand is also one of the oldest cities of the Central Asian region which was established more than 2,500 years ago during the Persian Empire.
The best boxers of the country, both men and women, will participate in the new edition of the National Elite Boxing Championships. The Tajiks amazed in the last edition of the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo claiming gold medals.
Altogether 19 female and 112 male boxers are participating in the Tajikistan Elite National Championships in Khudjand.
The men’s light welterweight (63.5kg) is the most crowded after the regional selection events with the participation of 12 boxers. The participating teams are Dushanbe-1, Dushanbe-2, GBAO, Khatlon-1, Khatlon-2, Sughd and SHNTM.
Dushanbe’s national team member Mekhron Shafiyev reached several strong international results and he moved back to the minimumweight (48kg). The 23-year-old boxer controlled all of the three rounds against Bobojon Mengikulov of Khatlon region and he joined the next stage of boxing in Khudjand.
Tajikistan’s top star, the ASBC Asian Champion Bakhodur Usmonov had to meet another Dushanbe-based boxer, the ex-Russian Aytal Dyakonov but he was untouchable in the first round. The 28-year-old World bronze medallist Tajik finished his job in the second round when the referee confirmed his RSC victory.
Dushanbe’s multiple Asian Championships medallist in various age groups, Ruslan Gafurov achieved the title at the Azimjon Toshev Memorial Tournament in Khudjand three months ago. He returned to the city but he had to do his very best to beat a local boy, Khusravbek Zoidov by 3:2 split decision at the light welterweight (63.5kg).
Sughd region’s World Championships competitor Dovud Makhkamov opened his campaign against Dushanbe’s Muin Abdulloyev in style and an easy victory. His main rival, Murodjon Ashuraliyev eliminated a former National Champion, Saidikrom Amonov while Salim Kurbonmurodov knocked out his rival in this busy light middleweight (71kg).
Shakhobdzhon Shukurov proved his technician style of boxing in the national team last year and he moved up to the middleweight (75kg). The experienced boxer not only controlled the exchanges against Umidjon Kosimov but he stopped his opponent in the second round.
Abdumalik Boltayev, the Asian Championships competitor, was too strong for Khatlon’s Akhtamsho Akramshoi while the best boxers of the super heavyweight (+92kg) as Mukhammad Abroridinov, Asadbek Mannonov and Parviz Akhmedov Jr. all won their meetings by a stoppage.
