Vietnam will host its Elite & Youth National Championships in Ho Chi Minh City from October 1

Vietnam Boxing will arrange its next competition, the National Elite & Youth Boxing Championships in Ho Chi Minh City on October 1-10.

Vietnam started the year with their Strong Teams National Championships and followed that a competition for the younger age groups this summer.

Ho Chi Minh City hosted the ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in 2017 which delivered the real breakthrough for their female boxers. Their legend, Nguyen Thi Tam earned gold medal in that event for the first time and Vietnam moved into a new era after that Asian Championships.

The arrival and the sport entries to the national event is October 1 while the finals will feature on October 9 and 10.

Their Vietnam Youth National Championships will take place for the 2007 and 2008 age groups in Ho Chi Minh City.

Boxers who were born between 1985 and 2006 will be eligible to participate in the Vietnam Elite National Championships.

Vietnam earned gold medals at the ASBC Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka this May and their female heroes are all planning to participate in the upcoming Elite & Youth Nationals.

Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Ngoc Tran, the Asian Elite silver medallist, defeated Kazakhstan’s Gulnar Turapbay in Colombo while their Song Thi Kim Ngan also exceeded her previous expectations and she triumphed over Kazakhstan’s Tomiris Myrzakul in the ASBC Asian U22 Boxing Championships.

Team Vietnam will compete in several upcoming international events including the ASBC Asian Junior & Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Open Boxing Championships and the Southeast Asian Games.

The last edition of the Vietnam Elite & Youth National Championships took place in two rings due to the high number of participants in Can Tho one year ago. The number of the women’s youth boxers was 66 in the national event, the women’s elites was 84, the men’s youth was 63 and 122 men elite athletes also competed for the gold medals.
