Powerful Asian junior talents in Urumqi

The junior finals delivered amazing quality of boxing at the famous 3rd Belt & Road International Youth Boxing Gala which took place in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China.  

The Chinese Boxing Federation and the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region Municipal Government were the organizers of the Festival in Urumqi.

Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, China, Cuba, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan and Yemen all decided to send strong teams in various age groups to Urumqi.

The venue of the event was the Xinjiang International Boxing Training Centre in Urumqi which has excellent facilities. The official and full name of the competition was the Belt & Road International Youth Boxing Gala and Sports Lottery Cup, Xinjiang, China International Boxing Invitational.

India’s Laxmi won the first female final in the junior age group, she defeated her teammate, Chand Khushi at the pinweight (46kg). The Indian girls amazed in the competition, their Longjam Radhamani (60kg), Kaur Harnoor (66kg), Jyoti (75kg) and Anshika (+80kg) all won gold medals in the competition.

The Chinese junior girls claimed two titles in the competition, firstly Zhang Ju defeated Zhang Yuanying at the flyweight (50kg). Secondly, Wang Yaorunyu kept the title of the bantamweight (54kg) on home soil after beating India’s Pujari Chandrika Bhoreshi.

Kazakhstan’s 16-year-old Arman Myrsabit controlled the first male final over India’s Dhruv Kharb and he earned the title of the pinweight (46kg). Kazakhstan’s next ace Nurmakhan Zhumagali  also defeated an Indian boxer, Piyush, to take the gold at the flyweight (50kg).

India’s Falak (48kg) and his teammate, Udham Singh Raghav (54kg) claimed two gold medals among the boys for the rising boxing power. Falak defeated Kazakhstan’s Baltin Korganbek, while Singh was slightly better than Zhalgas Apbas.  

Uzbekistan’s Bobomurod Boymirzayev and Ibrokhim Shokirjonov both won several international competitions during their career and the duo continued their winning path in Urumqi after beating Kazakhstan’s Ulas Alimzhan and South Korea’s Kang Dae Ho.

Kazakhstan’s Daniyal Shalkarbay triumphed over his teammate, Daryn Tashmukhanbetov at the welterweight (66kg) final. Xinjiang’s Saierfen Ayiken delighted the home crowd and he controlled the light middleweight (70kg) final over South Korea’s You Jun Hui.

Kazakhstan’s Sanzhar Matassov (75kg), his teammate, Aliakbar Bauyrzhan (80kg) and Uzbekistan’s Asadbek Sultanboyev (+80kg) won the heaviest male weight classes in the city of Urumqi.
