The Tajikistan Boxing Family celebrates its Independence Day

The Tajikistan Boxing Federation celebrates its Independence Day and the management of the Asian Boxing Confederation wishes to them prosperity, happiness and strong boxing results in the upcoming years.
The Tajikistan Independence Day is celebrated on September every year as national holiday commemorating the country’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991 on this day.
The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 and separated into 15 new independent nations including five Central Asians which strengthen our continent’s boxing life. Tajikistan became one of the leaders in Asia’s boxing with amazing results following their medals and successes which started in the beginning of the 2000s.
Their Abdusalom Khasanov and Mekhroj Umarov earned bronze medals in the 2002 Asian Games in South Korea. Khasanov became their first medallist in the 2003 World Championships in Bangkok and Jakhon Kurbonov claimed the first Asian elite title for Tajikistan in 2005.
Mavzuna Chorieva became the first Asian Women’s Champion from Tajikistan in 2010 at the age of 18 and she achieved a bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games. Her prize tournament for the women boxers will be coming soon in Tajikistan this year.
Tajikistan claimed two gold medals in the ASBC Asian Boxing Championships in 2019 which was one of their top years since their independence. Bakhodir Usmonov won the gold medal at the Bangkok 2019 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships and after that Abdurakhim Yokubov earned the title at the Fujairah 2019 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships.
Tajikistan had another strong year in 2024 when Davlat Boltayev bagged a bronze at the Paris Olympics and the country earned four titles at the Asian Junior & Schoolboys Boxing Championships in Al Ain. The Tajiks also took gold medals in the recent Asian U22 & Youth Boxing Championships in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The Asian Boxing Family wishes all the best to the Tajik Boxing Family and great prosperity to achieve even better results in the upcoming international events. Tajikistan is one of our most developing National Federations which sent tough teams to all of the championships.
