Abdulloeva and Khasanova are the new women powers in Tajikistan

Tajikistan has excellent men’s boxing team but the new generation of female athletes could have a bright future in the upcoming years. Among them the ASBC Asian Junior Champion Farinoz Abdulloeva and Zarifa Khasanova are the flag bearers in the youth national team.

Mavzuna Chorieva, their first woman boxer in the country who joined the national team in 2008, achieved Tajikistan’s first female success more than a decade ago.

She claimed an unexpected gold medal at the 2010 ASBC Asian Women’s Boxing Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan at the age of 18.

Chorieva’s career highlight was a bronze medal from the London 2012 Olympic Games and she became Tajikistan’s historic female boxer.

Sumaiya Kosimova, Mizhgona Samadova, Shoira Zulkaynarova, Nilufar Boboyorova, Rukhafzo Khaknazarova and some other girls reached good results in the international stage in the previous years but their new generation is even stronger.

Farinoz Abdulloeva bagged a silver medal at the 2023 Junior World Boxing Championships in Yerevan and she increased that result into a gold at the 2024 ASBC Asian Junior Boxing Championships. The 17-year-old Tajik joined the youth national squad this year and she earned a next medal at the recent ASBC Asian Youth Boxing Championships in Sri Lanka.

Abdulloeva defeated the best Uzbek girls in her last international competition, such as Zulfikor Mirazizova, Jasmina Hudoyberdiyeva and Muslima Turgunova as well. The bantamweight (54kg) boxer has big plans for next year as well and she has strong chance to win another Asian title in 2026.

Zarifa Khasanova achieved only a silver medal at the annual Tajikistan Youth National Championships but she won her first major international competition after that. She defeated Kazakhstan’s Fatima Kassymova, Kyrgyzstan’s Nurperi Makeshova and Kazakhstan’s Zhanur Kaldybek in her recent tournament and Khasanova proved her amazing progress. 

Their youth female team contains still Bashorat Shovaliyeva who defeated also strong Uzbek boxers this year. The ASBC Asian Youth Championships bronze medallist duo as Mino Azamzoda and Mukharramkhon Toshkhudjayeva, additionally the National Champion Noziya Sharifova are need to be watched in their next events.
