He lost in his third bout to United States’ Gary Russell Jr. but he has done Jordan’s first historical steps in Mianyang.

Jordan built up strong development programs in the early years of the 2000s and hosting the 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Elite Boxing Championships was part of that strategic plans. Jordan’s 19-year-old Obada Al-Kasbeh and Ihab Al-Matbouli both advanced to the finals of the 2013 ASBC Asian Confederation Elite Boxing Championships writing new history for the Western Asian country. Both boxers claimed silver medals in the front of the home crowd while Mohamed Al-Assi was bronze medallist.

Jordan’s top highlight came at the Asian & Oceanian Olympic Boxing Qualifying Event in March 2020 which was hosted by their capital city, Amman. ASBC Asian Boxing Championships bronze medallist veteran Mohammed Al-Wadi, Rio 2016 Olympian Obada Al-Kasbeh, Zeyad Eshaish, former Asian Games silver medallist Odai Riad Al-Hindawi and Hussein Iashaish all have qualified for the Tokyo Olympic Games.

Jordan hosted the 2022 edition of the ASBC Asian Youth & Junior Boxing Championships where the country claimed its first title among the youth boxers. Amman was also the host of the 2022 ASBC Asian Elite Boxing Championships when Mohammad Adnan Abu Jajeh and Hussein Iashaish earned two titles for Jordan.
