Guizhou hosted a great International Tournament

The Guizhou International Boxing Tournament was China’s next activity in the city of Zunyi where the host country, Uzbekistan and Cuba shared the gold medals.

China hosted the Asian Games in Hangzhou two years ago and the Belt & Road Youth Boxing Festival in 2024 and the management of their National Federation is planning to arrange more competitions in the upcoming period.

China dominated the women’s part of the competition, five of their boxers finally claimed the titles in Zunyi. Lu Yuanyuan won the light flyweight (50kg) while a local boxer, Tang Dashuang controlled her final bout against Feng Guiyin at the bantamweight (54kg).

Ruan Mulan robbed into the world of boxing a few years ago when she won the Chinese National Championships and she proved strong development in this new international event. The featherweight (57kg) boxer defeated Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova, a multiple Asian Champion in the final of the event.

Yang Chengyu moved down to the lightweight (60kg) and she succeeded in the event easily before Uzbekistan’s Dilfuza Bekova achieved the title at the welterweight (66kg). Bekova is No.2 in Uzbekistan behind Navbakhor Khamidova but she was strongly prepared and defeated China’s Zhang Mengge in the final.

After Wang Xiaomeng’s success at the women’s middleweight (75kg), China’s new sensation at the men’s flyweight (51kg), the 23-year-old Zhang Jiamao defeated all of their rivals in this busy category.

The Cubans used the competition as a preparation event for the next goals and three of their boxers such as Saidel Ivan Horta (57kg), Jorge Cuellar (71kg) and Nelson Williams (92kg) succeeded in this new Chinese event.

China’s best male boxer, the Asian Games winner Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan controlled the light heavyweight (80kg) including the final against Cambodia’s ex-Uzbek hope, the ASBC Asian medallist Anvar Nasredinov.

Uzbekistan sent a young male team to the Guizhou International Tournament and among them two talents succeeded in Zunyi. Abdullokh Madaminov was too strong for Artur Bazeyan of Armenia while Aman Makhanov is a super heavyweight talent and the 22-year-old boxer shined against China’s Xinjiang-based Danabieke Bayikewuzi.

China’s next event will be the 3rd edition of the Belt & Road Boxing Festival which is a combination of a training camp, competition and seminars in Xinjiang region from August 15.
