The Indonesian Menpora Cup is on its final stage

Indonesia’s new event, the Menpora Boxing Cup turned to its final stage in Jakarta where their SEA Games medallists such as Dio Koebanu and Maikhel Roberrd Muskita both shined in the road to the title bouts.

Jakarta is the capital city of Indonesia and their new event has all the facilities, hotels, and spectators in the busy metropolis.

The women’s minimumweight (48kg) is always a strong category in Indonesia and their new ace, Merlin Tomatala impressed in the day of the semi-finals. She controlled the first round against Andini and she finished the job in the second with an outstanding stoppage.

Israellah Saweho is a young talent at the women’s light flyweight (50kg) but she has enough international experience as a junior and youth. She was born in a strong boxing family and eliminated Novenvi Estevin Samalang in the semi-finals to meet Rani Balu in the final of the weight class.

The DKI Jakarta is the most famous boxing club in Indonesia and their Novita Sinadia also managed her pathway to the finals in the women’s part of the Menpora Boxing Cup. She represented Indonesia in a few international championships as well therefore she looked too experienced for Yulianti Ohorella in the semi-finals of the bantamweight (54kg).

Ratna Sari Devi is also an international level of boxer but she suffered an unexpected loss to Nabila Maharani at the women’s lightweight (60kg). Maharani was confident in the semi-finals and she can chase her gold medal dream against Erniati Ngongo in a highly anticipated female title contest.

The men’s minimumweight (48kg) is one of the most successful divisions in Indonesia’s boxing life and their 21-year-old Dio Koebanu shined again. The SEA Games medallist not only reached the finals after beating Bali’s Karlus Bria but he had one of the best performances in the entire event and he can keep his national gold against Perneel Tahumil Jr.

Bali’s Yulius Babu Eha won two out of the three rounds against Ricky Pratama and he will now meet Elizer Gonzales for the title of the light welterweight (63.5kg). Indonesia’s SEA Games winner and ASBC Asian U22 silver medallist Maikhel Roberrd Muskita stopped his rival, Damian Yamlean in a quick light heavyweight (80kg) contest.
