The Best achievements of the National Federations is the new PR campaign of the Asian Boxing Confederation and the introduction of the Indian Boxing and their best results are the next in the series.

India competed first in the Olympic Games in 1948 in London short after the country became fully independent from the United Kingdom. The Indian boxers attended 16-times in the boxing tournament of the Olympic Games until 2024.

Their first Olympic medal in the sport was achieved by Vijender Singh at the Beijing 2008 edition while their second bronze was delivered by national icon Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte in London in 2012. Lovlina Borgohain became their lone bronze medallist at the Tokyo 2021 Olympic Games which was their last main achievement.

India achieved altogether 61 medals in the history of the boxing events of the Asian Games between 1958 and 2023. Their overall performance is 9 gold, 17 silver and 35 bronze medals in the Asian Games.

Their first medal, a silver was taken by Hari Singh at the middleweight (75kg) in the Tokyo 1958 Asian Games. The first Indian boxing gold in the Asian Games was bagged by Padam Bahadur Mall at the lightweight (60kg) in the Jakarta 1962 edition. India hosted the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi where their boxers achieved six medals including one title on home soil.

The Commonwealth Games is another important multisport event for the Indians who earned 11 gold, 13 silver and 20 bronze medals in boxing events until 2022. India is rank number 9 in the overall medal table of the boxing tournaments of the Commonwealth Games but their progress is significant in the list.

The Indians achieved three gold, three silver and three bronze medals in the 2018 edition in Gold Coast, Australia where only England was better than the South Asian power. India had another three gold medals in the last edition of the Games in Birmingham three years ago.

India hosted several major women events in the recent two decades including the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2006, 2018 and 2023. India organized also the 2017 AIBA Women’s Youth World Boxing Championships in Guwahati and hosted also the Asian Women’s Boxing Championships twice.

India is No.3 in the overall medal table of the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships behind Russia and China. Among their fourteen world titles six was achieved by the most successful female boxer of the whole globe, Chungneijang Mary Kom Hmangte who is their top national icon in boxing.

India achieved one silver and nine bronze medals in the history of the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships. Following his Olympic bronze, Vijender Singh achieved their first medal also in the history of the AIBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in the 2009 Milan edition. Their promising team claimed its first silver medal at the 2019 Yekaterinburg edition where Amit Panghal (52kg) achieved that success.
